Description
The hippo is the rider we specify most often for the very youngest end of a play area. Its body is low and broad rather than tall and narrow, so a child who is only just walking can be lifted on and off easily, and the character is friendly rather than fast — which matters when the same item has to appeal to a nervous two-year-old and to a confident five-year-old on the same afternoon.

The free height of fall is below 0.6 m, which is the threshold above which EN 1176 requires impact-attenuating surfacing. Foundation depth is 0.6 m and the ground anchor is supplied. It combines readily with the rest of our playground equipment in a toddler zone.

Frequently asked questions
Should a toddler zone have one rider or several?
Several, if the space allows. Young children play in parallel rather than together, and two or three riders side by side generate far more use than one. Space them from their impact areas, not from their bodies.
Can an adult sit a child on it and stay alongside?
Yes, and the low body height is chosen for exactly that. There is room for a carer to stand at the side within the impact area while the child rides.
How is the HDPE body cleaned?
Warm water and a non-abrasive detergent. The colour is through the panel, so scrubbing marks off does not remove a printed or painted surface.
