A dynamic floor for acrobatic work

The air track gives a flat, dynamic working surface that returns energy on take-off, allowing combinations of skills with stable, precise impulsions. Athletes jump higher from it than from a sprung gym floor or a trampoline, and there is no joint impact on landing, which is what makes it usable for high repetition volumes.

Tumbling itself, from the English verb to tumble, is a purely acrobatic discipline performed on a 25 m dynamic track: the athlete covers the track with eight consecutive acrobatic elements, without interruption or break in rhythm, using hand and foot contacts only. A shorter training track like this one is where those sequences are built element by element.

Stays inflated for over a week

Once inflated the track holds pressure for more than a week, so the blower is not needed during use. In practice this is the difference between a piece of equipment a club actually uses and one that stays in the store cupboard, because setting up no longer costs twenty minutes of a session.

Is a blower supplied?

A blower is required for initial inflation and for periodic topping up. Confirm whether one is included in your quotation, as clubs ordering several tracks usually need only one unit.

Can other sizes be ordered?

Yes. The air track is available in several lengths, widths, thicknesses and colours. Tell us the hall dimensions and the disciplines being trained and we will propose a size.

What surface should it be laid on?

A clean, level floor free of sharp objects. Indoor sports flooring is ideal; outdoor use is possible on grass provided the ground is checked first.

Storage and handling

Deflated, the track rolls into a package one person can move and store on a shelf or in a cupboard, which is why clubs sharing a hall with other disciplines choose an air track over a permanent sprung floor. Inflated, it is light enough for two people to reposition between apparatus. Check the floor for grit and sharp objects before laying it out; the great majority of punctures in club use come from the surface underneath rather than from the activity on top.
