Etenon R8 and R5500 strength ranges: specification and prices

by Michaël Galy / Thursday, 02 July 2026 / Published in Comparatifs, Guides Acheteurs
machines de musculation etenon r8 (light in fitness) vs hammer strength — le comparatif preuve par preuve pour équiper un plateau force en france

The Etenon R8 selectorised range and the R5500 plate loaded range exist to solve one specific procurement problem: equipping a full strength floor to European commercial standards without buying into a single brand programme. Published prices, machine by machine purchase, European manufacture to EN ISO 20957 and a service commitment are what an operator is actually buying. This guide sets out what is in each range, the verified catalogue prices, how to compare the ranges against premium plate loaded brands on the criteria that matter, and where the published price bands need correcting.

What the two ranges cover

The R8 range is selectorised: an internal weight stack with a pin, one machine per movement, built for a general commercial membership where load changes have to take seconds. It covers the full floor, from chest press and lat pulldown through to leg extension, leg curl and the glute and abdominal stations that a modern floor is expected to carry.

The R5500 range is plate loaded and converging, taking 50 mm Olympic discs. It covers the heavy lower body and pressing stations where stack ceilings become limiting: leg press in two formats, pendulum squat, belt squat, hip thrust and the abductor and adductor machines. The two ranges are designed to sit on the same floor, which matters because matching frame geometry, upholstery and colour keeps a floor coherent and keeps the spare parts list short.

R8 selectorised range: verified prices

Machine Movement Price excluding VAT
Etenon R8101 Selectorised chest press 3,450 EUR
Etenon R8201 Selectorised seated row 3,450 EUR
Etenon R8202 Iso-lateral lat pulldown 3,750 EUR
Etenon R8301 Selectorised shoulder press 3,450 EUR
Etenon R8401 Guided hip thrust 3,650 EUR
Etenon R8501 Leg extension 3,450 EUR
Etenon R8502 Lying leg curl 3,450 EUR
Etenon R8506 Seated leg curl 3,650 EUR
Etenon R8503 Dual leg extension and leg curl 4,590 EUR

R5500 plate loaded range: verified prices

Machine Movement Price excluding VAT
Etenon R5505 Seated leg press 4,290 EUR
Etenon R5506 Adductor machine 3,990 EUR
Etenon R5508 Hip thrust machine 3,990 EUR
Etenon R5511 45 degree incline leg press XL 4,990 EUR
Etenon R5512 Pendulum squat machine 4,990 EUR

A correction is required on one point that circulates widely. Published summaries put professional plate loaded machines at 1,800 to 3,500 EUR excluding VAT per unit and selectorised machines at 2,500 to 5,000 EUR. Our verified catalogue does not support the plate loaded figure: the R5500 machines listed above run from 3,990 to 4,990 EUR excluding VAT. The selectorised band is broadly accurate, with R8 machines between 3,450 and 4,590 EUR. Build your budget from the machine list, not from the band.

How to compare against premium plate loaded brands

Premium American plate loaded ranges, of which Hammer Strength is the best known, invented the modern iso-lateral machine and remain the reference in elite training centres. They are sold through advisers on a quotation basis, and dealer documentation typically states that prices exclude tax, delivery, customs duties and installation or commissioning. That is a legitimate model, but it makes like for like comparison harder, so structure the comparison around six questions.

Question What to establish
What is the delivered price? Ask for delivery, installation, commissioning and any duties to be priced in the same document, not excluded from it
Can we buy machine by machine? Some brand programmes and training centre labels require a minimum range, commonly 15 machines, which removes your ability to mix suppliers by station
Where is it manufactured and to what standard? European manufacture to EN ISO 20957 simplifies conformity documentation for public buyers
What is the structural rating? Ask for the tested load on welds and the design duty cycle in hours per day, stated in writing
How long are spare parts guaranteed? Ten years minimum is a reasonable requirement, with wear parts held in stock
What is the service response time? A stated working hour response, backed by a local technician network, is worth more than a longer paper warranty

On the R8 and R5500 ranges the answers are: European manufacture to EN ISO 20957, welds tested beyond 300 kg, frames designed for eight hours of daily use, machine by machine purchase with no range commitment, published prices, and a service commitment of 48 working hours across the fleet we supply. Warranty is 2 to 5 years depending on the range, with 20 years on steel structures.

Building a floor from the two ranges

A workable starting ratio for a general membership club is roughly 60 per cent selectorised to 40 per cent plate loaded by station count. Selectorised machines carry the beginners, the circuit users and the peak hour throughput; plate loaded machines carry the heavy lower body work and the members who would otherwise leave for a specialist gym. Shift the ratio towards plate loaded for a performance centre or a strength led club, and towards selectorised for a hotel, corporate or health orientated facility.

A twelve station floor built on the ranges above, for example four upper body pushes and pulls in R8, three lower body selectorised stations, and three R5500 plate loaded lower body machines plus a dual station, prices out at around 45,000 EUR excluding VAT at catalogue prices, before flooring, delivery and installation. That is the number to compare against a single brand quotation, and it is the number a supplier should be willing to itemise line by line.

Frequently asked questions

Can we mix Etenon with other brands on the same floor?

Yes, and it is usually the better commercial answer. Buying station by station lets you put the budget where utilisation is highest. What you lose is visual uniformity, so if the floor is a marketing asset, group ranges by zone rather than alternating them along a wall.

What stack sizes do the R8 machines use?

Stack sizes vary by station and are stated per machine. Ask for the stack weight and the increment on the specific machines you are ordering, since the increment matters more than the ceiling for rehabilitation and beginner users.

Do plate loaded machines need special flooring?

They need a floor that tolerates disc handling around the loading pins. A 30 to 40 mm rubber tile in the plate loaded zone is the normal answer, with disc storage close enough that members do not carry discs across the floor.

How long do these machines last?

Frames outlast the business plan; steel structures carry 20 years of warranty. Upholstery and cables are the practical replacement drivers, at roughly 10 to 12 years on a busy commercial floor, which is why a ten year spare parts commitment is the clause worth negotiating.

What documentation comes with the machines?

Conformity documentation to EN ISO 20957, installation records and maintenance instructions. Public buyers should require this dossier to be handed over at delivery rather than promised, since it is the file that will be requested after any incident.
