Introduction

Bodytone has become a reference in professional strength equipment. Its machines are chosen for their robustness, their ergonomics and a modern design that holds up on a visible gym floor.

Getting the best out of them, though, depends on four things: choosing the right model, setting it correctly, using it properly and maintaining it on a schedule. Every machine has its own technical constraints, and those constraints are what separate a training programme that produces progress from one that produces injuries.

This guide answers the questions operators and coaching teams ask most often about Bodytone strength equipment.

Choosing a Bodytone chest machine

The options

Bodytone offers several machines targeting the chest:

  • Chest press (horizontal press)
  • Incline chest press
  • Pec deck / butterfly
  • Smith machine for guided bench press

Selection criteria

Training objective. For mass, the chest press. For definition and isolation, the pec deck or butterfly. For versatility across several movements, the Smith machine.

Resistance type. Selectorised load gives safety and simplicity, which matters on a floor with limited supervision. Plate loading gives freedom of movement and progressive intensity, which suits a strength-led area.

Dimensions. Check the footprint and the working envelope against your available floor area before committing to a machine mix.

Comfort. Thick upholstery, multiple adjustments and adjustable range of motion are what make a machine usable across a wide member profile.

Quick comparison

Bodytone machine Best for Load type
Chest press Strength, mass Selectorised
Incline chest press Upper chest Selectorised
Pec deck / butterfly Definition, isolation Selectorised
Smith machine Versatility Free weights

Setting a selectorised Bodytone machine correctly

General rules

  • Seat height. Adjust so that the handles arrive at chest height.
  • Backrest angle. Adjustable to shift the emphasis between muscle portions.
  • Range limiter. Set to restrict the range of motion where a user has joint pain.
  • Progressive load. Start light so the user masters the movement path before adding weight.

Practical tip

Always read the Bodytone rating plate fixed to the machine: it carries the recommended settings and the equipment classification.

Applicable standard: EN ISO 20957-1, class S, the European standard for stationary training equipment used in supervised commercial and institutional facilities.

Using a Bodytone Smith machine safely

What the Smith machine gives you

  • Guided vertical bar path, so the movement stays controlled.
  • Locking hooks every 10 cm, so the bar can be racked at any point in the range.
  • Versatility: squat, bench press, lunges, rows and more from one frame.

Safety in use

  • Check that the bar slides without catching before every session.
  • Always lock the hooks before loading the bar.
  • Set the safety stops so that a dropped bar cannot reach the chest or shoulders.
  • Never release the bar abruptly.

Approximate bar tare weight

Bodytone Smith machine series Empty bar weight
Standard series 20 kg
Pro series 25 kg

The difference matters: a member loading to a target total needs to know which bar they are on. Compare configurations in the professional Smith machine range.

Installing a Bodytone squat rack

Installation steps

  1. Check the space. Minimum ceiling height 2.20 m. Allow at least 1.20 m of clear width around the rack.
  2. Fixing. Some models must be anchored to the floor, and heavy-duty anchors are supplied for that. A spirit level is essential to check verticality.
  3. Accessories. Fit adjustable safety bars and plan plate storage on or beside the frame.

Applicable standard

EN ISO 20957-2 covers strength training equipment specifically, alongside the general requirements of EN ISO 20957-1. For a commercial or institutional installation, specify class S.

Practical tip

Set the rack on rubber gym flooring tiles to absorb vibration and protect the slab.

Choosing an adjustable Bodytone bench

Criteria

  • Angle range. Decline at minus 15 degrees loads the lower chest, flat at 0 degrees works the whole muscle, and incline between plus 30 and plus 45 degrees loads the upper chest and shoulders.
  • Maximum load. Light-duty benches carry 200 to 250 kg. Professional benches go up to 400 kg, and that is the specification to hold to on a commercial floor.
  • Stability. A heavier bench is a more stable bench.
  • Upholstery. Thick, non-slip and easy to clean between users.

Bodytone examples

Bodytone model Angle range Max load
Estructura Bench minus 10 to plus 80 degrees 300 kg
Pro Adjustable Bench 0 to plus 85 degrees 400 kg

The longer the backrest, the better it supports the spine at steep incline angles.

The full choice sits in the professional weight bench range.

Maintaining Bodytone strength equipment

Daily

  • Wipe the upholstery after each session with a damp cloth.
  • Visually check exposed fixings.

Monthly

  • Lubricate the guide rails with a silicone spray.
  • Inspect cables for wear and fraying.

Annually

  • Full inspection of pulleys and cables.
  • Replace wear parts as required.

In a commercial installation, maintenance should follow the manufacturer schedule and the requirements of EN ISO 20957-1. Keep a written maintenance log: it is the document that matters if an incident is ever investigated.

Replacing a broken cable

  1. Take the machine out of service immediately and mark it as unavailable.
  2. Record the exact reference: model and serial number.
  3. Order a genuine Bodytone cable, specifying the exact length and the diameter, generally 4 or 5 mm.
  4. Remove the old cable: undo the fixings or ferrules and unthread it from the pulleys.
  5. Fit the new cable.
  6. Check tension and function before returning the machine to service.

Never substitute a generic cable that is not rated for the specific load. It is both a safety and a warranty issue.

Performing a leg curl on a Bodytone machine

Correct execution

  • Lie face down on the leg curl machine.
  • Set the leg pad at calf level.
  • Grip the side handles.
  • Flex the knees, contracting the hamstrings.
  • Control the eccentric on the way down.

Settings that matter

Position the support pad at the lower femur to avoid pressure on the knees. Keep the range within the user flexibility rather than forcing it. Increase load progressively to avoid strains.

A one-second pause in the contracted position increases the training effect noticeably.

Building a circuit with Bodytone machines

Circuit training principles

Chaining machines with little rest burns calories, develops muscular endurance and makes better use of the training slot. On a commercial floor it also improves throughput at peak times, because members move continuously instead of occupying one station.

Example circuit

  1. Chest press, 12 reps
  2. Leg curl, 12 reps
  3. Smith squat, 10 reps
  4. Lat pulldown, 12 reps
  5. Pec deck, 12 reps
  6. Adjustable bench, abdominal work, 15 reps

Three to four rounds with one minute of rest between rounds.

Why it works

It varies the stimulus, saves time and keeps the heart rate elevated throughout the session. Lay the stations out so that the sequence flows without crossing the main circulation route.

Avoiding joint pain on a Bodytone machine

  • Always set the machine to the user morphology before the first repetition.
  • Do not exceed the natural range of motion.
  • Use light loads for warm-up sets.
  • Keep a controlled tempo, neither rushed nor artificially slow.
  • Stop immediately at any sharp pain.

Bodytone offers machines with an adjustable range of motion, which is genuinely useful for adapting to individual flexibility and preventing injury in a mixed-ability membership.

Compliance and assurance

  • Equipment conforming to EN ISO 20957-1, class S, for supervised commercial and institutional use.
  • Manufacturing certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Clear user documentation supplied with the equipment.
  • After-sales support with genuine spare parts available.
  • A manufacturer commitment to user safety across the range.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bodytone suitable for a small facility?

Yes. Several models are designed with a reduced footprint, which suits hotel, corporate and residential gyms where floor area is the binding constraint. They remain professional-class machines built for continuous use.

What warranty applies to a Bodytone machine?

Warranty terms vary by model and by component, and they are confirmed in writing with the quotation. Ask for them in the proposal rather than assuming a single figure across the range.

Are Bodytone machines difficult to assemble?

Not difficult, but methodical work and several hours are required. Benches and racks assemble more quickly than selectorised machines, which involve cable routing and tensioning. For a full floor, professional installation is the sensible route.

Can Bodytone machines be mixed with free weights?

Yes, and it is recommended. Combining guided machines with free weight work varies the stimulus and serves a wider range of member abilities on the same floor.

Conclusion

Choosing, setting and maintaining Bodytone machines correctly is what makes sessions safer, more effective and more comfortable for the people who use them. Specified properly, this equipment is a long-life asset rather than a recurring cost.

If you are planning a floor or renewing an existing one, send your room dimensions, member profile and expected traffic through the quote request page for a machine mix, a layout and a full price.
