Description
Not every site has room for a monumental rope landscape – and that is exactly where the VIL 1 comes in. On a footprint of roughly 12.6 x 12.4 m, it packs climbing ropes, rope nets, a suspended nest seat and a stainless steel tube slide into a single coherent play circuit for children aged 5 to 14.
A complete climbing circuit on a medium footprint
The VIL 1 is designed as a loop: children climb the ropes, cross the netted sections, rest in the nest seat and exit down the slide. The tight-mesh zone (120 x 120 mm) offers an easier climbing surface for less confident users, while the main nets challenge older children – so one module serves the whole age band.
- 5 climbing ropes fitted with 240 mm platforms
- Nest-type suspended seat, 950 mm in diameter
- Stainless steel tube slide
- Tight-mesh climbing zone (120 x 120 mm)
- 4 rubber mats, 8 mm thick, reinforced with polyamide netting
- Free fall height: 3.0 m – minimum safety zone 17.5 x 16.6 m
Engineered for years of public use
The main frame uses steel tube with a diameter of 168.3 mm, protected by hot-dip galvanising. Nets are made of 18 mm polyamide rope reinforced with galvanised steel strands (average mesh 350 x 350 mm), assembled with polyamide connectors, aluminium components and stainless steel shackles and thimbles. The structure complies with EN 1176-1:2017 and is anchored on reinforced concrete footings set 1.0 m deep.

Frequently asked questions
Why a stainless steel slide rather than plastic?
Stainless steel tube slides resist UV fading, vandalism and temperature cycling far better than polyester slides, which matters on unsupervised public playgrounds with high daily traffic.
What total area should I plan for?
Beyond the 12.6 x 12.4 m structure itself, allow a minimum safety zone of 17.5 x 16.6 m with impact-attenuating surfacing rated for a 3.0 m free fall height.
Can the VIL 1 be combined with other modules?
Yes – it belongs to the same tubular family as the larger VIL 3 and Shaula structures, so a park can be developed progressively with a consistent visual identity.
