Description
The TRAINER Steel4Fit Horizontal Massager is a pylon-mounted outdoor recovery station for the back, built to the reinforced Steel4Fit specification. It measures 78 x 80 x 202 cm, weighs 30 kg plus a 50 kg pylon and requires a safety zone of 378 x 380 cm. Certified to EN 16630:2015 by TUV Rheinland, it is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,644 EUR excluding VAT.
The recovery station a circuit usually lacks
Outdoor fitness areas are specified almost entirely around effort: press, pull, step, twist. What they rarely include is anything for afterwards. The horizontal massager fills that gap. The user leans back against the rollers and moves laterally, working across the muscles of the back rather than along them, which loosens the thoracic and lumbar musculature after a session. It requires no effort, no skill and no instruction, which is exactly why it gets used.
- Horizontal massage movement across the back musculature
- Complements the vertical massager, which works along the spine
- Difficulty rated easy, suitable for all users
- Maximum user weight 150 kg, minimum user height 140 cm
Why the easiest station needs the toughest specification
Counter-intuitively, the low-effort stations take the most abuse in a public park. They are used by everybody, including people who never intended to exercise, they are used in ordinary clothes, and they are the ones children hang from. Building this unit to Steel4Fit standard is therefore a rational choice rather than an upgrade for its own sake: seamless S355 steel on the curved members, S235 on the straight sections, hot-dip galvanised and then powder coated twice, in the range’s red and graphite scheme (RAL 3000 / RAL 7016).

Frequently asked questions
Horizontal or vertical massager, which should be installed?
They work in different directions and are designed as a pair. The vertical unit works along the length of the back; this one works across it. Where budget allows only one, the horizontal version is the more generally useful because the lateral movement reaches the paraspinal muscles that stiffen after seated work.
Is it a medical device?
No. It is open-access fitness equipment certified to EN 16630, intended for general muscular relaxation. It makes no therapeutic claim and should not be specified as a substitute for physiotherapy.
Does Steel4Fit cost more to maintain?
Less, in practice. The double powder coating over hot-dip galvanising, and the absence of weld seams on the curved load-bearing members, means fewer touch-up interventions across the life of the installation. The inspection regime under EN 16630 is unchanged.
