Description
The Serpent uncoils a continuous climbing course along more than 50 metres of curved steel tube. Dense nets, twenty-eight knotted climbing ropes, rubber mats and a 1000 mm nest seat follow the serpentine line, creating a linear adventure trail that children aged 5 to 14 can follow from head to tail.
Fifty metres of continuous climbing
Most climbing structures are destinations; the Serpent is a journey. Its 273 mm steel spine curves across 51.1 x 12.8 m of ground, carrying a 350 x 350 mm mesh network that rises, dips and turns with the tube. Children progress along the body – swapping between net traverses, the 28 plastic-knot climbing ropes and rubber mat platforms – and pause in the suspended nest seat along the way. For long, narrow park strips or perimeter routes, no other format uses the land so well.
