Description
This 15 mm rubber gym flooring tile of 100 x 100 cm is made from recycled SBR at 900 kg/m3 and weighs 13.5 kg, with a mottled surface finish. The pigments are mixed into the mass of the rubber during manufacture, so the pattern does not wear off with the surface.
The practical reason to choose a mottled tile over plain black is visual maintenance. Dust, micro scratches and shoe marks disappear into the pattern instead of standing out, and the finish reads closer to granite or terrazzo, which suits hotel gyms and studios where the room is also a selling point.
The structure is closed pore: the surface is not porous, so perspiration, chalk and shoe residues do not become embedded. Cleaning is a vacuum, then a damp mop with neutral detergent. The tile is non slip, laid loose or bonded, and can be used indoors or outdoors. Fire classification is Efl and the warranty is five years.

Choosing thickness and finish
At 15 mm the tile is specified for cardio zones, functional areas and general circulation, where the load is vibration and foot traffic rather than dropped weights. For a free weight zone with barbells dropped from height, a thicker tile is the correct specification and we will say so at quotation stage.
On finish, the choice is between a plain colour and a mottle. A plain 15 mm coloured tile is available at a lower price where a strong single colour is wanted for zoning. The mottled version costs more but hides daily wear, which is why it dominates in hotels and in premium clubs.
Frequently asked questions
Does the mottling wear off?
No. The pigments are integrated into the mass of the rubber during manufacture rather than applied to the surface.
Can the tile be laid outdoors?
Yes, indoor and outdoor use are both covered, loose laid or bonded according to the substrate and the exposure.
Are other mottle colours available?
Black mottled is the standard. Other mottle colours are produced on quotation, which is worth considering on a large area where the floor carries the identity of the room.
