Description
The Roll Out Mat Tatami in 40 mm converts any hall into a combat sports or gymnastics area in minutes, and clears it just as quickly. That is the whole argument for a roll out mat rather than fixed tatami tiles: multi purpose rooms, school halls and clubs sharing a space need a surface that appears for the session and disappears afterwards.
The mat is made from high density foam at 40 kg per cubic metre, which is the figure that determines both comfort on impact and resistance to permanent compression over years of use. It is supplied as a roll of 1.5 m wide by 10 m long in 40 mm thickness, covering 15 m2. Integrated Velcro strips join adjacent rolls so that a full combat or gymnastics area is assembled in minutes without tape or adhesive.
The surface is waterproof and moisture resistant, elastic underfoot and easy to clean, which matters in disciplines where mats are in direct contact with skin and where hygiene protocols are enforced. Rolling and storing takes seconds, so the room can return to other use between sessions without a work party.

Roll out mats against fixed tatami tiles
The two products answer different problems. A dojo with a dedicated room is better served by puzzle tatami tiles, which stay in place and give a permanent floor. A club renting hall time, a school teaching several disciplines in one gymnasium, or a facility running gymnastics in the morning and judo in the evening needs the floor to be reversible, and that is where roll out mats win.
Practical points for specification. Order in whole rolls and plan the layout so the Velcro joints run along the direction of movement rather than across it. Allow storage space: a 40 mm roll of 15 m2 is bulky, and rooms are frequently equipped before anyone checks where the mats will live between sessions. We size the number of rolls against your usable area with the quotation.
Frequently asked questions
How large an area does one roll cover?
15 m2, from a roll of 1.5 x 10 m.
Do the rolls stay together during a session?
Yes. The integrated Velcro strip system fastens adjacent rolls into a continuous surface.
How is the mat cleaned?
The surface is waterproof and moisture resistant, so it is cleaned with water and a neutral detergent.
