40 mm puzzle tile for throws, falls and combat sports
As soon as there are throws and landings from a fall, 20 mm is no longer enough: you need 40 mm. This is the thickness of judo, wrestling, grappling and self-defence, the one that absorbs the energy of a full fall instead of returning the impact into the joints. Like the 20 mm model, it interlocks without adhesive and lifts again to free up a multi-purpose hall.
Textured surface and interlock on all four sides. The visible face carries a regular hexagonal relief, which breaks up the slippery feel of a smooth surface underfoot and during ground work. All four sides are toothed, so the tiles lock to each other and the surface extends in both directions without adhesive or fixing to the substrate. Finishing edges are recommended at the perimeter to remove the step at the edge of the mat area, which is more pronounced at 40 mm than at any lesser thickness.

Who it is for
Martial arts and combat sports halls. The puzzle tile is the standard of dojos and grappling rooms: it lays without adhesive, lifts to free up the hall, and the area can be extended as the club grows rather than bought all at once.

What to know before ordering
Thickness and use go together. The 20 mm covers ground work, core training and routine barefoot practice. The 40 mm becomes necessary as soon as there are throws and landings: judo, wrestling, grappling. Choosing 20 mm for a throwing discipline is a sizing error, not a saving.
Density matters as much as thickness. At equal thickness, a tile that is too soft sinks underfoot and tires the ankles; too hard, and it no longer cushions the fall. The density figure is not published for this range: ask us for it before comparing this tile against another offer.
Plan for the finishing edges. The interlocking teeth remain visible around the perimeter. Finishing edges are recommended at the edge of the mat area for safety and for appearance, and they are ordered with the surface rather than afterwards.
