Description

Play configuration 46 links two rope structures — a FABULON and a SABIK — through a central BATUT trampoline module. The trampoline is the connector, not an add-on: children pass through it to move between the two climbing volumes, which puts a jumping activity in the middle of an otherwise climbing-led circuit.

Climb, jump, slide

  • FABULON rope structure with climbing wall and slide.
  • BATUT trampoline link module at the centre of the layout.
  • SABIK rope structure with adjustable-tension climbing nets.
  • Activity mix covering rope climbing, wall climbing, sliding, jumping and net traverses.

Why the low free height of fall matters

The configuration has a free height of fall of just 1.3 m — low for a scheme of this size. That figure directly reduces the critical fall height the surfacing must achieve, which in turn widens the range of acceptable surfacing products and usually lowers the surfacing budget. On projects where the ground works dominate the cost, this is often the deciding factor between configuration 46 and a taller alternative.

Construction and materials

The steel structure is hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated. Ropes are braided and bonded polyamide, 18 mm diameter. Connectors are aluminium, stainless steel and plastic; the frame itself remains galvanised steel. Foundations are concrete footings at 1.0 m depth.

Compliance and surfacing

The configuration is certified to PN EN 1176-1:2017, with a certificate of conformity from an independent certification body. EN 1176-1 covers the equipment. Surfacing is a separate specification under EN 1177 and must be rated for a critical fall height of at least 1.3 m across the 15.1 x 11.4 m safety area. The trampoline module in particular should not be sited over an unrated surface.

Frequently asked questions

How much maintenance does the trampoline module need?

The jumping membrane and its edge fixings are the wearing parts and are checked at every routine inspection. They are replaceable in situ without disturbing the adjacent rope structures.

Can the FABULON or SABIK be bought on their own?

Yes — both are catalogue products in their own right. Bought separately they each carry their own safety area, so the combined ground requirement is usually greater than the linked configuration.

Does a 1.3 m free height of fall still require certified surfacing?

Yes. Any free height of fall above 600 mm requires impact-attenuating surfacing tested to EN 1177 and rated for at least the height involved.
