Description
Play configuration 44 is a five-component assembly stretched over 28.6 m: an AIRDOME rope dome fitted with a triple slide, an AIRDOME transition bridge, and a MAYE rope dome completed by a straight slide. It is a corridor scheme, designed for park edges, promenades and school perimeters where length is available but depth is not.
Two domes, one continuous journey
The value of the configuration lies in the bridge. Rather than two separate domes with a walk between them, children cross from one climbing volume to the other at height, which sustains a single continuous play sequence along the whole run. Each dome then discharges through its own slide — three lanes at the AIRDOME end, a single straight chute at the MAYE end — so descent capacity is distributed rather than concentrated.
Components
- AIRDOME rope climbing dome with integrated triple slide.
- AIRDOME transition bridge linking the two volumes at height.
- MAYE rope climbing dome with straight slide.
- Steel structure, hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated in the colours selected at order.
Siting and access
The assembly measures 28.6 x 9.1 x 4.7 m and requires a minimum safety area of 32.5 x 12.7 m. Free height of fall is 3.0 m and foundations are 1.0 m deep. Site access for construction plant is required throughout installation, and on a run of this length the delivery sequence usually has to be planned against a phased possession of the area.
Compliance and surfacing
The configuration is certified to EN 1176-1:2017-12 by an independent certification body, with a certificate of conformity issued for the assembly. EN 1176-1 addresses the equipment. The impact-attenuating surface underneath is a distinct specification covered by EN 1177, and must be rated for a critical fall height of at least 3.0 m over the whole safety area — a little over 400 m2 in this case, which is the largest single cost line after the equipment itself.

Frequently asked questions
Can the two domes be installed apart, without the bridge?
They can be supplied as separate items, but the result is two products rather than this configuration, each with its own safety area. The combined footprint is usually larger than the linked scheme, so the bridge often saves ground rather than consuming it.
What surfacing area should be budgeted?
Approximately 32.5 x 12.7 m of surfacing rated to EN 1177 for a 3.0 m critical fall height. The siting drawing issued with the quotation gives the exact setting-out for the surfacing contractor.
Are the colours free to choose?
The steelwork is powder-coated to the colours selected at order. Colour choice does not affect the certification or the maintenance regime.
