Description
Play configuration 47 brings together three SPICA rope climbing towers linked by a central funnel-shaped net module. The result is one continuous play volume of 15.1 x 14.8 m in which children move between towers without returning to the ground.
Three towers, one connected space
Each SPICA tower works as an independent climb, but the funnel module in the centre changes how the scheme is used. Children converge on it from three directions, and the funnel geometry concentrates them into a shared space before they fan out again. That rhythm — disperse, converge, disperse — is what distinguishes the configuration from three towers placed side by side.
Components and construction
- Three SPICA rope climbing towers.
- One central suspended funnel net module linking all three.
- Steel structure, hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated.
- Braided polyamide rope, 18 mm diameter.
- Aluminium and stainless steel connectors; concrete pad foundations at 0.8 m depth.
Siting and surfacing
The configuration measures 15.1 x 14.8 x 4.1 m and requires a minimum safety area of 18.9 x 18.2 m. Free height of fall is 2.0 m — lower than the taller rope towers in the range, which eases the surfacing specification. The equipment is certified to EN 1176-1:2017-12 with a certificate of conformity from an independent certification body. Impact-attenuating surfacing is a separate matter, tested to EN 1177 and rated for a critical fall height of at least 2.0 m across the full safety area.

Frequently asked questions
Why are the foundations shallower than on other rope structures?
Pad depth follows the loads and the overturning moment of each tower. At 4.1 m overall height with three mutually braced towers, 0.8 m pads are sufficient. The foundation design is issued with the siting drawing and should be checked against your ground conditions.
Can two towers be specified instead of three?
The funnel module is designed to meet three towers. A two-tower scheme is a different configuration and would be quoted with its own certification file.
Is the central net accessible to less confident climbers?
The funnel is reached from each tower at mid-height rather than at the top, so it does not require a full climb. It is also the point where a supervising adult has the clearest view of all three towers at once.
