The muscle group most gyms equip badly
Calves take heavy loads in daily walking, so training them at a weight that produces adaptation means loading well beyond what a dumbbell or a body-weight raise can deliver. A dedicated Olympic station solves that: plates go on until the resistance is genuinely challenging, and the seated position removes the balance problem that limits a standing raise. The soleus and gastrocnemius get the load they actually need instead of the load that happens to be convenient.

Ellipse build standard
The Ellipse range is designed around a smooth, naturally tracking movement path and around adjustments that a new member can find unaided. All adjustment points are colour-coded in yellow. Pulleys are high-strength nylon, 105 x 20 mm, running on sealed 6202RS bearings. The finish is a two-pass powder coating with a clear top coat over it, and frame and arm colours are specified by the customer rather than fixed.
Upholstery is polyurethane foam under synthetic leather. Seat and backrest are contoured so that the pelvis stays set during the press, which is what keeps the load on the calf rather than transferring it into the lower back.

Frequently asked questions
Seated or standing calf work, which should a club install?
Seated pressing with the knee flexed biases the soleus; standing with the knee extended biases the gastrocnemius. If you install one machine, the seated version is the safer general choice because it removes spinal loading and suits a wider range of members. Clubs with a serious strength following usually end up with both.
Why an aluminium footplate?
Aluminium keeps the platform light enough to be positioned precisely while resisting the abrasion of shoe soles far better than a painted steel plate, which shows wear within a season on a busy floor.
