Magnetic Indoor Cycling Bikes for Group Classes

by Michaël Galy / Friday, 06 June 2025 / Published in Vélos spinning
Pourquoi faut il acheter des vélos de spinning RPM à résistance magnétique pour vos cours collectifs en salle de fitness à usage professionnel ?

Buying magnetic-resistance indoor cycling bikes for your group classes is one of the more straightforward equipment decisions a club makes, and one of the most profitable. The reasons come down to three things: performance in class, comfort for the rider, and durability over years of continuous use. Here is what actually justifies the investment.

What indoor cycling delivers in a class programme

Indoor cycling gives participants a demanding cardio session that builds endurance and general condition. It burns a high number of calories while conditioning the lower body, the thighs and glutes in particular, and also engages the trunk and arms through the standing and sprint positions. Classes are intense but scalable, which is what allows a club to put beginners and regulars in the same room without either group being lost.

Why magnetic resistance

The single biggest advantage of magnetic braking is that it is silent and finely adjustable. Compared with traditional friction systems, resistance is smoother and easier to modulate, so riders can select the exact level they need. That matters most for newcomers, who can progress without the jolts that push people into poor technique or injury.

The flywheel completes the effect: a heavier, well-balanced flywheel gives a smoother pedalling feel, which is less punishing on the joints while keeping heart rate where the instructor wants it. In a room where twenty bikes run at once, the absence of friction noise also means the instructor can be heard without shouting over the equipment.

Consoles and coaching

These bikes are usually fitted with a display showing heart rate, calories, distance and other session data. Instructors use those numbers to guide the room and to give riders individual feedback against their own objectives. For a club, consistent data across the whole row of bikes is also what makes challenge formats and retention programmes possible.

Ergonomics and daily operation

Commercial bikes are adjustable in saddle height, saddle fore and aft position, and handlebar height, so riders of very different sizes can be set up correctly in seconds between two classes. That adjustability is what keeps a studio timetable running on time, and it is a genuine ergonomic requirement rather than a comfort feature.

Total cost over the life of the equipment

Over the long run, magnetic-resistance bikes pay for themselves through robustness and low maintenance: there are no brake pads to replace and no friction surfaces to wear. Choosing recognised professional ranges gives members reliable equipment and gives the operator predictable running costs. Our indoor cycling bikes are selected on exactly that basis, and models such as the Bodytone MT6 spin bike are built for continuous group use.

As with every indoor machine used by members, specify EN ISO 20957-1 class S, the professional class.

Building the rest of the cardio offer around them

Indoor cycling bikes work well alongside the rest of the cardio floor. Combining them with rowing machines and treadmills in varied class formats gives members a complete conditioning offer, and lets a club run circuit and hybrid sessions without buying a second room of equipment.

Frequently asked questions

How many bikes does a studio need?

Count the class size you want to sell, then add the spare capacity that lets you keep selling it when one bike is being serviced. Room dimensions and circulation space decide the rest.

Magnetic or friction resistance?

For a commercial studio, magnetic. It is quieter, more precise and has far fewer wear parts, which is what matters when the same bike runs several classes a day.

What maintenance is involved?

Regular cleaning, periodic checks of the adjustment mechanisms and the fixings, and manufacturer servicing intervals. Sweat management is the main thing that determines how long a studio bike looks new.

Equipping your cycling studio

Magnetic-resistance indoor cycling bikes are the sensible choice for any club that wants demanding, well-attended group classes. Send us the dimensions of the studio and your class sizes and we will come back with a layout, a quantity and a price. Request a quote and our team will size the room with you.
