In professional strength training, powerlifting, strongman and weightlifting are the ultimate tests of raw force. They require equipment built to take the most extreme loads while still guaranteeing safety and performance. Unlike standard fitness machines, equipment for the strength sports is specifically reinforced and optimised for explosive movement. This guide sets out what to specify when you equip a strength-sport area, category by category.
Why specify dedicated strength-sport equipment?
The strength sports leave no room for error. The equipment has to deliver:
- Maximum resistance: designed to take loads in excess of 500 kg.
- Advanced ergonomics: to guarantee correct posture and prevent injury.
- Exceptional durability: reinforced materials for intensive use.
Key characteristics of strength-sport equipment
| Characteristic | Benefit for the strength sports |
|---|---|
| Reinforced steel structure | Takes extreme loads without deformation. |
| Integrated safety | Safety bars and heavy supports to prevent accidents. |
| Multiple adjustments | Adapts to athletes of very different builds. |
| Specialised attachments | Optimised for the technical movements of each discipline. |
1. Reinforced bench: the essential for powerlifting
The bench is unavoidable for the bench press, one of the three competition lifts in powerlifting. Our benches are built for the demands of high-level athletes.
- Key characteristics: heavy reinforced steel with a load capacity up to 700 kg; ergonomic seat with dense padding for support under heavy loads; precise adjustment through incline, decline and flat positions for maximum versatility.
- Benefits for powerlifting: reduced injury risk through unmatched stability; easier correct body alignment for better performance; durability under intensive daily use.
| Specification | Reinforced bench |
|---|---|
| Maximum load | 700 kg |
| Material | Reinforced steel, non-slip finish |
| Adjustments | Incline, decline, flat |

2. Oversized squat cage: performance and safety
The squat cage is the central station for squat training, essential in both powerlifting and weightlifting. Ours are designed for maximum safety and stability.
- Main characteristics: oversized structure that resists the heaviest loads without swaying; adjustable safety bars that protect the athlete on a failed lift; non-slip platform that guarantees grip even under extreme loads.
- Benefits for strength athletes: multiple adjustments for every height and squat style; built for explosive movement and functional training; straightforward to use, even for beginners, thanks to the integrated safety systems.
| Characteristic | Squat cage |
|---|---|
| Adjustable height | Yes, for every build |
| Safety bars | Hardened steel, adjustable |
| Load capacity | Up to 1000 kg |

3. Professional trap bar: versatility and safety for the deadlift
The trap bar is an essential tool for deadlifting in powerlifting and for functional strongman training. Ours are designed to minimise stress on the back and maximise power output.
- Characteristics: ergonomic handles giving a natural grip that reduces joint stress; high load capacity, up to 600 kg; robust design built to take impact and repeated use.
- Benefits for the athlete: improves lifting technique and reduces injury risk; allows heavier lifting through better load distribution; ideal for functional strength work and strongman competition.
| Specification | Trap bar |
|---|---|
| Load capacity | 600 kg |
| Material | Reinforced steel, non-slip grips |
| Bar weight | 30 kg |
4. Log bar and strongman accessories
Strongman needs specialised equipment, and the log bar is the central item for building raw force and explosiveness.
- Log bar: thick neutral handles, ideal for building the forearms and shoulders; robust construction designed to take violent impact and extreme lifts; textured surface that holds grip even without chalk.
- Complementary accessories: atlas stones, spherical weights for lifting, available in several sizes; a yoke rack for functional strength and muscular endurance work.
| Accessory | Characteristics | Strongman use |
|---|---|---|
| Log bar | Thick handles, solid steel | Presses, cleans, shoulder lifts |
| Atlas stones | Rough surface, progressive weights | Lifting and carrying |
5. Weightlifting platform: stability and protection
The platform is essential for training the snatch and the clean and jerk. Ours are built to give a stable, durable surface.
- Main characteristics: thick rubber surface that absorbs the impact of heavy bars and protects both the floor and the equipment; reinforced timber edges that give a solid base for explosive movement; dimensions in line with competition standards, which allows professional athletes to train as they compete.
| Specification | Platform |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 4 m x 4 m |
| Material | Reinforced timber, thick rubber |
| Impact resistance | High, suited to heavy loads |

Frequently asked questions
Can one area serve all three disciplines?
Partly. Racks, benches and bars are shared, but weightlifting needs a dedicated platform and drop zone, and strongman needs open floor for carries and loading. Plan the three zones together rather than sequentially.
What floor is required under a strength-sport area?
A surface rated for dropped loads under the platforms and lifting zones, with acoustic treatment where there are occupied spaces below. The specification is decided zone by zone.
How much clearance around a platform?
Enough for a bar to be dropped and roll without reaching a wall or another athlete, plus space for coaching. Send us your plan and we will mark the zones.
Do I need competition-standard dimensions?
If you host competitions or train competitors, yes. If the area is for general strength work, the platform size can follow the room rather than the rule book.
Equipping your strength-sport area
The strength sports demand equipment of exceptional robustness and quality. Tell us the disciplines you host, the number of athletes and the space available, and we will propose a full specification and layout. Request a quote to receive a costed proposal.
