Description

In brief — Ziva Velocity professional ski ergometer, silent magnetic resistance: dimensions 127.7 × 62.4 × 215 cm, weight 56 kg, material steel, brand Ziva, distributed by Light In Fitness, price 1,550.00 € excl. VAT.

The Ziva Velocity Ski Trainer is a professional ski ergometer that reproduces the cross country skiing pull from a fixed station, with ten levels of magnetic resistance and a free standing base supplied as standard. The movement loads the latissimus dorsi, trapezius, shoulders and triceps with active bracing through the trunk, an upper body demand that treadmills and cycling bikes do not cover. It is self contained and needs no mains socket, and there is no maximum user weight because the athlete pulls while standing on the floor rather than loading the frame. The list price is 1 550 EUR excluding VAT.

Where a ski ergometer earns its floor space

Most professional ski ergometers on the market, including the Concept2 SkiErg and the Xebex Air Ski Trainer, use air resistance: a fanned wheel generates load in proportion to the force of each pull. That produces a wide open resistance curve, and a significant amount of noise which accumulates once several cardio machines run together. This model takes the opposite approach with magnetic resistance, so the ten levels are identical whatever the pulling speed and the machine adds no noise to the room.

Two consequences follow for an operator. First, placement is unconstrained: no wall fixing because the base is included, no electrical socket because the console is self contained, and a vertical format occupying roughly 0.8 square metres, so the station can go into a corner, a mezzanine or a corridor end rather than eating into the main training area. Second, sessions are repeatable, which matters for functional training and Hyrox preparation where the same protocol has to be measured across weeks.

The absence of a user weight limit is a practical detail worth noting when equipping a broad membership. Upkeep is minimal: wipe down the handles and frame, check the cord and pulley for wear, and verify that the base feet remain flat on the floor. Integrated wheels let one person move the 56 kg unit for cleaning or for a class layout.

Frequently asked questions

Is a base or a wall mount needed?

Neither. The free standing base is included, which removes the drilling, the structural check on the wall and the additional purchase required by air resistance models sold without a stand.

Which muscles does it work?

Mainly the latissimus dorsi, trapezius, shoulders and triceps, with continuous trunk bracing and a contribution from the legs depending on the technique used. It is the upper body counterpart to a rower in a mixed cardio circuit.

Can output be tracked over time?

The included console shows watts, cadence, strokes, calories and heart rate, and connects over Bluetooth to compatible applications and chest straps for session logging.

Care and maintenance

Dust the ventilation grilles and the underside every month: dust is the first cause of failure on cardio equipment. Wipe the console with a barely damp cloth, never spray a product directly onto the screen. Check pedal, strap and quick-adjustment tightness.
