Description
The Tipi Towers rope playground rises 7.5 m as a truncated pyramid of five steel masts, crowned with bent-steel arches carrying suspended cable networks. Part climbing tower, part landmark, it gives children aged 5 to 14 a vertical adventure that few conventional play structures can match — finished with a tubular slide from 3.30 m.
How the tower is built
- Five steel masts in 168.3 mm diameter tube of varying lengths, topped by arches bent from 88.9 mm tube
- Horizontal cable networks at 1.50 m and 3.30 m creating distinct play levels
- Central cable axis fixed at 4.70 m, running through both networks down to ground level, tensioned with anchored turnbuckles
- Four rope landings inside the shaft that prevent any fall of more than 1.50 m
- External rope net and rope bridge providing additional entries at 1.50 m
- Tubular polyethylene slide starting at 3.30 m for a safe ride down
Materials and protection
The steel structure is hot-dip galvanised and powder coated against corrosion, and stands on reinforced concrete footings laid at 1.0 m depth. Rope elements are 18 mm braided, bonded polyamide, joined by aluminium, stainless steel and plastic connectors; the additional entry elements mount on 139.7 mm steel posts.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the free fall height only 1.5 m on a 7.5 m tower?
The internal shaft is fitted with four rope landings that stop any fall of more than 1.50 m, so children can climb high while the effective fall height stays low.
How do children come back down?
Either by climbing back through the cable networks or by the tubular polyethylene slide, which starts from the 3.30 m level.
What does installation involve?
Reinforced concrete footings at 1.0 m depth, then assembly and tensioning of the cable networks — all included in the project quotation with the siting plan.
