Gym equipment for golf, tennis and padel clubs

In a golf, tennis or padel club the gym does not replace a commercial fitness centre: it serves the club’s own sport, meaning preparation, injury prevention and recovery between rounds or matches. The space available rarely exceeds a few dozen square metres, usually inside an existing clubhouse, which calls for versatile machines and a controlled footprint rather than a full machine series.

Light In Fitness supplies every family this kind of space needs — cardio, selectorised strength, Pilates, recovery, flooring — through a single point of contact. This page sets out what actually serves the members of a racket or golf club, and in what order to install it.

Three uses, three zones

Zone Use Indicative area Families involved
Warm-up and cardio Pre-round activation, joint preparation 10 to 20 m² Bikes, rowers, treadmills
Strength and prevention Posterior chain, shoulder, core, asymmetry from the sporting gesture 20 to 40 m² Selectorised machines, accessories
Recovery After a round, a match or a training camp 10 to 25 m² Cold plunge baths, sauna and steam room

The strength zone is what justifies the space to members: the racket stroke and the golf swing are asymmetric and repeated, and the shoulder and lumbar spine account for most interruptions to play. A space built around cardio alone does not answer that need.

What works on a small footprint

A clubhouse imposes a constraint a commercial gym does not: every machine has to serve several movements, otherwise the floor area is consumed before it becomes useful.

  • A versatile selectorised station. One multi-function unit covers pulldown, press and arm work on a single footprint, with adjustments simple enough for unsupervised members.
  • Quiet cardio. A clubhouse is a social space: magnetic resistance machines and water rowers are preferable to air turbine models, which are noticeably louder.
  • A Pilates reformer. On a footprint comparable to a mat, it covers mobility, core work and unilateral training, with a progression suited to older members. The range is on the Pilates reformers page.
  • Accessories and storage. Bands, kettlebells and mats make the space usable for small group sessions ; without storage furniture they end up on the floor and the space becomes unusable.

Recovery, a membership argument more than a training one

This is the item that differentiates a club today, and the one members mention first. A cold plunge bath needs a power supply, a drain and water treatment ; the all-in-one format integrates the chiller and filtration into the tub, which avoids a dedicated plant room.

Equipment Use List price excl. VAT
Kore fixed cold plunge Fixed installation, separate chiller €4,166.67
Korelis Pro all-in-one Tub, chilling and filtration integrated €7,499.17
Korelis Elite all-in-one High capacity version for sustained group use €12,499.17
Cold Pulse Pro chiller Upgrade of an existing tub €2,500.00

Sauna and steam room complete the offer where the club has a wet room and suitable ventilation. Available configurations are on the sauna, steam room and spa page ; outdoor models are grouped on the outdoor saunas page.

Flooring governs the warranty and the neighbours

A clubhouse is rarely designed to carry loads. Two points need checking before ordering: floor loading capacity if the space is upstairs, and impact noise transmission to adjoining rooms. Rubber tiles protect the substrate, an acoustic underlay addresses transmission. Families and thicknesses are detailed on the sports flooring page.

Extending the season with outdoor equipment

An open-air club has outdoor space that often sits unused in the quiet season. A compact outdoor fitness station or an outdoor fitness trail unit extends use of the site without occupying built floor area. This equipment falls under EN 16630 and is installed in free access, with the corresponding operator duties set out on the inspection of outdoor fitness page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum area for a clubhouse gym ?

A useful space starts at around 25 m² with one versatile selectorised station, two cardio machines and a floor area equipped with accessories. Below that the space remains possible but is limited to warm-up and mobility.

Does a cold plunge bath need a plant room ?

Not in its all-in-one version, which integrates the chiller and filtration into the tub and needs only a power supply and a drain. A fixed model with a separate chiller does require a ventilated technical location nearby.

Does the space need to be supervised ?

That is the club’s decision, but it governs equipment selection. In free access, selectorised machines with simple adjustments are preferable to free weights, which assume technical correction.

Can indoor equipment be installed on a covered terrace ?

No. Machines compliant with EN ISO 20957 are neither designed nor tested for permanent exposure to weather and ultraviolet light. An outdoor installation requires equipment under EN 16630, anchored and treated against corrosion.

Does a Pilates reformer belong in a racket club ?

Yes, and it is often the most used machine among members over fifty. It allows unilateral work and fine resistance progression on a footprint comparable to an exercise mat.
