The Bodytone Bench Press Station: the Professional Answer

by Michaël Galy / Monday, 22 January 2024 / Published in Bancs de musculation
le banc développé couché bodytone la réponse professionnelle pour des performances optimales

Bench press is the busiest station on most strength floors, and it is also the one where a weak frame costs the most: a bench that flexes or shifts under load turns a routine set into an incident. If you are specifying a bench press station for a commercial gym, a club or a training centre, the Bodytone FBC08 olympic bench press station is the professional answer, built for continuous use by experienced lifters rather than for occasional sessions.

This article covers what to look for in a professional bench press station, what the Bodytone frame does well, and how to place it so that it earns its floor area.

What defines a professional bench press station

A professional station is defined first by its structure. A solid, rigid frame delivers the stability that lets a lifter concentrate entirely on the set, and it holds that stability through the heaviest work on the floor, not just through the average set. High-quality materials give it a service life measured in years of commercial use: the station has to carry substantial loads without flexing, which is what makes it reliable for users at every level.

Padding is the second point. A thick, well-supported pad gives comfort through long sessions and, more importantly, keeps the shoulder blades in a stable position, which reduces the risk of discomfort and injury. Thin padding that bottoms out under a heavy lifter is a false economy on a commercial floor.

Third comes the locking and adjustment hardware. Wherever a station offers positions, the mechanism has to hold the selected position through the whole set. A secure locking system prevents any slipping or instability during the exercise, and that is what makes the difference between equipment a member trusts and equipment they avoid.

Stability and frame strength

Stability is the headline advantage of the Bodytone frame. The structure is designed to take the most intense work without flexing. Whether the lifter is moving heavy loads or working explosively, the station stays where it is, which lets them stay focused on the lift.

That rigidity comes from the materials. Heavy steel frames give long-term durability, and the thick padding keeps the contact surface comfortable through the session. On a commercial floor, this combination is what allows a bench press station to be in use from opening to closing without the frame loosening or the pad breaking down.

The FBC08 is a free-weight station in the olympic format: the bar and the plates are not part of the structure and are quoted separately. That matters when you budget, and it matters when you plan the surrounding floor, because the plate storage and the bar have to be positioned as part of the same zone.

Flat, incline and decline: choosing the right format

The bench press family covers three positions and each one changes the emphasis. Flat pressing is the reference lift and the one that draws the queue. Incline pressing shifts load towards the upper chest and the front of the shoulder. Decline pressing shifts it towards the lower chest and takes the shoulder out of the movement rather than adding to it.

A dedicated flat olympic station like the FBC08 is the right answer when your priority is throughput on the main lift. If you also want incline and decline work, that is a second bench, an adjustable one, rather than an expectation to place on a fixed olympic frame. Specifying it that way is what avoids the classic mistake of buying one bench and discovering it cannot do half of what the programme asks. Our full range of professional weight benches covers both formats.

Benefits for the operator

The first benefit is throughput. Bench press remains one of the most requested stations on a strength floor, and a dedicated olympic bench keeps the rotation moving at peak hours and frees the racks for squat work. That single effect usually justifies the station in a facility that has been running bench press inside its power racks.

The second is safety. A stable frame, a secure locking system and correct pad geometry keep the lifter in a controlled position, which reduces both the injury rate and the supervision load on your staff.

The third is durability. High-quality materials mean the investment survives intensive training rather than needing replacement in a couple of seasons, which is the calculation that actually matters when comparing a professional station to a cheaper frame.

How it compares with other bench press stations

There is no shortage of bench press options on the market, and most of the differences that matter are structural rather than cosmetic. Frame rigidity under load, pad density and support, the quality of the locking hardware and the footprint required for safe access are the four points to compare. A station that scores well on all four is a station that will still be in service in five years.

The Bodytone frame is positioned exactly there: heavy structure, thick padding, secure locking, and a free-weight olympic format that suits a serious strength floor. Catalogue price for the FBC08 is 980.00 EUR excluding VAT, excluding bar and plates.

Frequently asked questions

Do the bar and the plates come with the station?

No. The FBC08 is a free-weight olympic station: the bar and the plates are not part of the structure and are quoted separately. Budget for them as part of the same project.

Flat station or adjustable bench: which should I buy first?

If bench press is causing queues or occupying your power racks, buy the dedicated flat station first. Add an adjustable bench afterwards for incline and decline work.

How much space should I allow around it?

The footprint of the frame plus a clear zone for loading and unloading plates on both sides and for a spotter behind the head of the bench. Send us your floor plan and we will mark it up.

Is it suitable for a first-floor installation?

That depends on the permissible floor loading of your building, which has to be checked against the station weight plus the loaded bar before ordering. Ask your structural engineer if you are in any doubt.

Specifying your bench press zone

A bench press station works when it is specified together with the bar, the plates, the storage and the floor around it. Tell us how many members use your strength floor at peak hours and we will propose the right number of stations and their layout. Request a quote and our team will come back with a costed proposal.
