Description

The Xebex AirPlus is a dual-resistance air bike built for continuous use in CrossFit boxes and strength and conditioning facilities. Resistance is generated by the fan and is therefore unlimited and self-adjusting, arms and legs work simultaneously, and the console runs without mains power. The manufacturer declares conformity to EN ISO 20957. Light In Fitness supplies it at 1,050 EUR excluding VAT.

The most efficient minute of cardio in the building

An air bike produces resistance in proportion to the effort applied to it: the harder the athlete drives, the harder it pushes back. There is no level to set, no ceiling to reach and no way to coast, which is why the air bike has become the default tool for HIIT intervals, conditioning blocks and threshold work. Because the handles and pedals are linked, upper and lower body load at the same time, so the metabolic cost per minute is higher than on any seated cycle. It is also, for the same reason, the machine athletes complain about most and use most.

  • Unlimited air resistance, self-adjusting to the effort applied
  • Simultaneous upper and lower body work
  • Self-powered console reporting calories, distance and watts
  • No motor and no mains connection required
  • Reinforced chassis specified for box-level throughput

Why most air bikes fail and this one is specified instead

The failure modes of a cheap air bike are predictable and always the same three: fan blades that distort under repeated high-output efforts, bearings that develop knock within months, and a console that drops out mid-workout. Each is a consequence of building a domestic machine and selling it into a commercial box, where the same unit may take forty maximal efforts a day. The AirPlus is engineered around that duty cycle. The absence of a motor and of any electrical supply also removes the two components most likely to fail on a powered cardio machine, and means the bike can be placed anywhere on the floor, or outside under cover, without a socket.

Where it belongs

CrossFit boxes as a central piece of equipment, elite sports preparation and military training facilities, HIIT studios, independent coaches and serious home gyms. In a box, plan for one bike per eight to ten athletes if it is to be used in class programming rather than as an accessory. Degressive pricing applies from three units.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need a power supply?

No. The fan generates the resistance and the console is self-powered by the drive, so the bike works anywhere on the floor with no socket, no cable run and nothing to trip over. That also removes the electrical failure points that take powered cardio machines out of service.

How does an air bike compare with a spin bike for conditioning?

They train different things. A spin bike sets a fixed resistance and rewards sustained leg output; an air bike scales with effort and recruits the upper body, so power drops off far faster and intervals are correspondingly shorter and harder. Facilities that programme conditioning need the air bike; facilities running cycling classes need the spin bike. Most need both.

What maintenance does it require?

Very little: check the chain or belt tension, keep the fan housing clear of dust and verify the pedal and handle fixings periodically. There is no motor, no electronics beyond the console and no resistance mechanism to service. Spare parts are held and after-sales response is within 48 hours.

Light In Fitness equips CrossFit boxes, performance centres, military and public facilities and commercial gyms across France and internationally, with delivery, installation and spare parts handled by our own team.
