Description

The MAX 10 is a professional stair climber with a rotating staircase of eight steps, three of them in the working position, set at a 38 degree angle. Step cadence runs from 14 to 140 steps per minute across ten resistance levels, driven by a 2.5 hp DC motor with a twin chain transmission.

Climbing loads the glutes, quadriceps and calves through a movement the body already knows, which is why stair climbers produce high energy expenditure at moderate perceived effort and why they are consistently among the busiest machines on a mixed cardio floor. Step geometry determines whether that translates into a comfortable session: the MAX 10 uses a 560 mm step width, 180 mm step height and 250 mm step length, dimensions close to a real staircase rather than a compressed simulation.

The console is a white LED display offering 36 preset programmes plus a manual mode, with readouts for time, climbing altitude, calories, steps and heart rate. Heart rate is read through a sensor, and the handrails are heavy duty with a non slip finish. An MP3 input with two integrated speakers and a USB charger are available as options. Safety features include braking on power failure and automatic stop when there is no load on the steps, and maximum user weight is 180 kg. Adjustable floor supports level the machine, and it is supplied in black or grey.

Adding a stair climber to a cardio floor

A stair climber is the highest machine on a cardio floor, so ceiling height is the first check, measured to the top of the user’s head at the highest step rather than to the top of the frame. Position it where a user stepping backwards off the machine will not walk into a passing lane, and confirm the slab where the machine sits above ground level, since machine weight plus a 180 kg user is a concentrated load. Operationally, the automatic stop with no load is what keeps a climber safe on an unsupervised floor: the staircase does not continue running once the user steps off. For clubs, the 36 preset programmes cover most member requirements without staff intervention, and the ten resistance levels give a usable progression for beginners.

Frequently asked questions

What does the display show?

Time, climbing altitude, calories, steps and heart rate, across 36 preset programmes plus a manual mode.

What ceiling height is required?

Machine height plus user standing height on the top working step. The exact figure is confirmed with the layout study for your room.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. The step rate starts at 14 steps per minute, which allows a very gradual introduction, and the machine stops automatically when unloaded.
