The method is written on the machine and needs no explanation. Sit on the seat with the legs bent, take hold of the bar with both hands and push the pedals with the legs until they are fully extended. The load is the user own body weight acting through the lever, so nothing has to be selected and the effort scales with the person.

The exercise strengthens and develops the muscles of the lower limbs, principally the quadriceps and the glutes. It is one of the few outdoor stations that trains leg strength rather than leg endurance, which is why it belongs on a trail alongside the walkers and the bikes rather than instead of them.
