Description
The Bodytone SRX12 is a plate loaded pullover machine with a convergent lever, 250 kg total capacity split as 125 kg per arm, on a 181 x 169 x 148 cm footprint for 164 kg net. The pullover trains shoulder extension and adduction, pulling the arms down from overhead to the line of the body. Because the elbows stay relatively fixed, the latissimus dorsi does the work with far less biceps contribution than a lat pulldown, which makes this the station of choice when a back programme needs isolation rather than another vertical pull.

Why the convergent lever matters
A straight line lever forces the arms to travel on parallel planes. A convergent lever brings them together as the movement closes, which follows the natural arc of shoulder adduction and keeps the resistance aligned with the joint through the whole range. Under 250 kg that is not a comfort detail: a misaligned path is what produces the shoulder complaints associated with older pullover designs.
- 250 kg total capacity on Ø50 mm Olympic horns, loaded independently per side
- FL205 block bearings and calibrated Ø25 mm axles for a consistent stroke under load
- Four level non slip platform for varied user heights
- 60 mm EVA seat and back pad, antibacterial cover
- Levelling feet and M10 class 8.8 bolting for a stable install on an imperfect floor
Installation and floor loading
The machine occupies 181 x 169 cm, roughly 3.06 m2, and stands only 148 cm high, which keeps sightlines open across a training floor. Net weight is 164 kg before plates; loaded to capacity the assembly reaches around 414 kg on a compact base, so on a suspended floor the point load should be checked against the permissible value before delivery.
Position the SRX12 with clear access on both sides for loading, and keep a plate tree within reach because each side is loaded separately. Maintenance is limited to the FL205 bearings, the axle pivots, the technopolymer horn sleeves and the upholstery; there are no cables or pulleys to replace.
Frequently asked questions
Does the pullover work the back or the chest?
Primarily the latissimus dorsi. The pectoralis major contributes depending on the range used and the position of the shoulder at the start of the movement, which is why the station appears in both back and chest programmes.
Why choose a pullover machine when the gym already has a lat pulldown?
A lat pulldown involves elbow flexion, so the biceps share the load and often fail first. The pullover keeps the elbow angle largely fixed, isolating shoulder extension and letting the lats be loaded to their own limit.
Can each side be loaded with a different weight?
Yes. The two arms carry separate horns rated at 125 kg each, so unilateral work and asymmetric loading are possible for members correcting a strength difference.
