Acoustic and impact underlay for gym floors
Acoustic and impact underlay for gym floors: our professional selection
Repères de gamme — 7 modèles, dont 7 à prix affiché : 18 €–450 € HT par appareil (calcul du 29/09/2026).
Underlay forms part of the sports floor system, alongside the substrate and the finished surface. The range includes composite polyurethane foam sheets and impact underlays in sheet, roll and puzzle formats. Compatibility must be checked against the finished surface, substrate and planned loads.

Why an underlay changes the outcome
In a gym above occupied rooms, impact noise, structural vibration and airborne noise need to be considered separately. An underlay alone does not establish the acoustic performance of the floor: the complete assembly and the building must be assessed.
Choosing a thickness
Thickness is selected with the loads, drop heights, substrate and finished surface in mind. A functional training area with light dumbbells and a weightlifting platform taking loaded Olympic bars have entirely different requirements, and a single specification across the whole room usually means overpaying in one zone and underperforming in another. The selected product documentation and the proposed floor assembly are checked when preparing the quotation.
| Selection point | Detail |
|---|---|
| Material | Composite PU foam for the identified sheets; check the selected reference for other formats |
| Function | Impact, vibration and acoustic requirements assessed for the complete floor assembly |
| Thickness | Set by drop heights and loads per zone |
| Zoning | Assembly selected for the loads and stability required in each zone |
| Product documentation | Check the selected reference and its installation conditions |
Frequently asked questions
Is an underlay always necessary?
Not everywhere. The need for an underlay depends on the substrate, loads and acoustic constraints. Check that the chosen assembly preserves the stability of the finished floor and equipment.
Can it be laid over an existing floor?
The existing substrate and the compatibility of the underlay with the finished surface must be checked before selecting an installation method.
Does it solve noise complaints from neighbours?
No acoustic result can be guaranteed from the underlay alone. The complete floor assembly and building structure must be assessed case by case.
