Description

These outdoor asymmetric pull-up bars are designed for users with reduced mobility, including wheelchair users. The set is 3.10 m long and 1.70 m high and requires a 6.17 x 3.30 m safety area, 18.26 m2 in total. Professional price: 2,065 EUR excluding VAT.

Why the heights are asymmetric

The set is built from posts at three different heights: two at 1.7 m, two at 1.5 m and one at 1.3 m. That spread is what makes the equipment work for a mixed population. A wheelchair user pulls from a seated position and needs a bar within reach from the chair; a standing user needs a bar high enough to hang from. A single-height bar serves one of those groups and excludes the other.

With graded heights, the same structure supports assisted pull-ups, seated pulls, partial hangs and full pull-ups, so users progress along the frame rather than moving to different equipment as they get stronger.

Where it is installed

Parks, schools, nurseries, sports grounds, beach facilities and residential developments. The design is intended to sit within public landscaping rather than stand apart from it, which matters when accessible equipment is added to an existing park and must not read as a separate, segregated zone.

Specifying it within a wider scheme

Accessible equipment works when it is part of the main circuit, not when it is grouped in a separate corner. Position these bars on the same route as the other stations, with the approach surfaced continuously from the nearest path, and the installation will be used by both wheelchair users and ambulant users rather than by neither. Signage should describe the exercises rather than label the equipment as adapted, which in practice discourages use by everyone.

Frequently asked questions

What approach is required for wheelchair users?

A firm, level and continuous route from the nearest accessible path, and bound surfacing within the safety area. Loose-fill surfacing satisfies impact requirements but makes the equipment unreachable in a chair.

How much space does the installation take?

The structure itself is 3.10 x 0.16 m, but the governing figure is the 6.17 x 3.30 m safety area – 18.26 m2 that must remain clear of paths, benches and planting.

Is it suitable for standing users too?

Yes. The 1.7 m posts give full hanging height for ambulant users, so the same structure works for both groups without duplicating equipment.
