How to choose the right strength equipment brand for your facility

by Michaël Galy / Wednesday, 18 September 2024 / Published in Guides Acheteurs
Comment choisir la bonne marque en musculation

Choosing a strength equipment brand looks complicated because the market offers so many options and because most brand comparisons are written for individuals rather than for operators. A club, a hotel, a municipality or a rehabilitation centre buys on different criteria: how long the frames last, whether the range is complete, whether spare parts still arrive in year six. Here are the criteria that decide the answer.

  • 1. Build quality and standards
  • 2. Equipment matched to your members, not to a slogan
  • 3. A complete range in one place
  • 4. Support, spare parts and after sales

1. Build quality and standards

Quality comes first when selecting machines, weight benches and free weight equipment. What to look for is concrete: frame section and welds, load bearing capacity, cable and bearing quality, and upholstery that survives commercial cleaning. Every indoor machine placed in a facility open to users must be built to EN ISO 20957-1 class S. A brand that cannot state the class of its equipment is answering a different question from the one an operator is asking.

The exercises the frame has to support are the everyday ones: bench pressing, squatting, pulling. Machines designed for heavy loads and constant use behave differently after three years from machines designed for occasional use, and the difference shows up in the maintenance budget rather than in the brochure.

2. Equipment matched to your members, not to a slogan

Every facility has a specific audience. Hypertrophy oriented machines suit a performance club; guided load and accessible entry positions suit hotels, corporate rooms and older memberships; endurance work needs its own line of treadmills, cross trainers, rowers and bikes. A brand is a good fit when its catalogue covers the mix you actually serve, which is why our strength training machines and cardio equipment are specified as ranges rather than as isolated products.

3. A complete range in one place

Buying a full floor from a coherent range saves more than money. Racks, pull up structures, benches, plate loaded machines, selectorised lines, flooring and storage bought together share a design language, arrive on compatible lead times and are serviced by one contact. Our racks and cages sit alongside the rest of the catalogue for exactly that reason.

4. Support, spare parts and after sales

The support behind the brand matters as much as the frame. Three questions separate suppliers: how long spare parts remain available, how quickly a technical response arrives when a machine is out of service, and who carries out installation. A machine out of order is lost revenue in a commercial facility, so after sales is not a soft criterion.

5. Value for money over the life of the equipment

Investing in quality strength equipment reduces injury risk and supports performance. Some products cost more at purchase, and they are a sound investment when the extra cost buys years of service life. The number to compare is not the invoice: it is the cost per year of use, including maintenance, spare parts and the cost of the machine being unavailable.

6. Design and adjustability

Good machines are easy to adjust and isolate the target muscle group cleanly, whether the chest, the biceps or the triceps. In a commercial setting, adjustability is also a business criterion: a wide adjustment range means the same station serves a taller and a shorter member, a beginner and an experienced one, without staff intervention.

7. References and experience

Ask what the brand has already equipped and in which type of venue. A supplier used to clubs, boxes, hotels, municipalities and rehabilitation centres brings layout experience that a catalogue cannot: circulation, sightlines, the distance between stations, the position of the free weight zone relative to reception.

Frequently asked questions

Is the most expensive brand the right one?

No. The right one is the brand whose range, class rating, service life and support match your facility. Price is a criterion, not the criterion.

Can several brands be mixed on one floor?

Yes, and most floors do. The practical limits are visual coherence and the number of after sales contacts you are willing to manage.

What should be checked before signing?

The standard the equipment is built to, the warranty terms, spare part availability, delivery access to your building, and who is responsible for installation and for commissioning.

How long should professional equipment last?

Longer than a single membership cycle, which is precisely why frame construction and spare part policy matter more than any single specification on the datasheet.

Comparing on your own project

The most reliable comparison is made on your own floor plan and your own attendance. Send us the venue type, the space and the audience, and we will propose an equipment list, a layout and a quotation: request a quote.
