Professional padel courts: specification, prices and site requirements

A padel court is a 15 to 20 year asset, and whether it stays rigid or starts to vibrate, rust and deform comes down to three things: the steel section of the structure, the thickness of the glass and the grade of the turf. Light In Fitness manufactures and supplies courts to clubs, hotels, campsites, local authorities and sports complexes, with oversized steel, tempered glass never below 10 mm, professional turf and eight 200 W LED floodlights included as standard on every court.

The three components that decide court life

Structure. Our courts use 100 by 50 by 2 mm pillars on the Standard ranges and 80 by 40 by 2 mm frames on the Premium ranges. That is a substantially larger section than the 30 by 50 mm tubing frequently found on courts sold as professional. The consequence is measurable in use: less vibration when the ball hits the mesh, greater rigidity in wind, and a longer service life before the structure needs attention.

Glass. Every court carries tempered glass of at least 10 mm, and 12 mm on the panoramic versions. Entry level offers on the market drop to 8 mm. Thicker glass gives a cleaner, more consistent rebound and better proven resistance under intensive club use, and it is not a place to save money because replacing panels later costs far more than specifying them correctly.

Turf. Three technologies are available, fibrillated, monofilament and texturised, in green or blue, across the whole catalogue rather than tied to a single model. Fibrillated is the most versatile and the most economical, and suits intensive club use. Monofilament gives a more regular bounce and a longer life. Texturised, used in competition, gives the slide closest to professional tour conditions.

Prices are net, exclude VAT and are quoted ex works. Every court includes the galvanised steel structure, the tempered glass, the professional turf with its silica infill and eight 200 W LED floodlights with cabling. Transport, concrete slab and assembly are quoted separately according to the site.

Which range for which operator. Standard suits a club’s first courts, local authority facilities, campsites and hotels, and offers the best robustness to price ratio. Premium suits dedicated padel clubs wanting the frame aesthetic and a higher level of finish. Standard panoramic suits sites that host spectators, since the open back wall improves both the spectator experience and video content. Premium panoramic is the most complete configuration in the catalogue, aimed at premium clubs and academies.

Options

Lighting included as standard is worth checking against any competing quotation. A court delivered without floodlights is not playable after dark, which removes the most commercially valuable booking slots of the day, and retrofitting lighting costs more than specifying it at the outset.

Site requirements before you order

A regulation padel court measures 20 by 10 m. Allow a footprint of approximately 22 by 12 m to accommodate safety clearances around the structure, and a minimum free height of 6 m for an indoor installation. The slab specification, drainage, access for delivery vehicles and the electrical supply for the lighting are all checked during the feasibility study, which we carry out before any order is confirmed. Outdoor courts additionally need a view on prevailing wind and on surface water, both of which affect playability more than most operators expect.
