Description
The red Curled synthetic sprint track is the high density version of the sprint lane, with 15 mm coiled short fibres at 63,000 stitches per square metre. That is almost double the density of the standard model, which runs 35,000 stitches per square metre at 12 mm. The coiled fibres create a more compact and more resilient surface underfoot, which improves traction at the start of a sprint and holds up under repeated sled passes, the two loads that destroy an under specified lane first.
Density is the specification to compare when quotations are put side by side. A lane at 35,000 stitches per square metre feels acceptable when new and flattens along the running line within a season of heavy use; at 63,000 the fibres support each other and the lane keeps its profile. For a facility running daily conditioning classes, that is the difference between replacing the track in year two and keeping it for the life of the floor.

Specifying a sprint lane
Three decisions govern a sprint lane order and they are best taken together. Length comes first: 10 m and 20 m are held in stock and ship on the standard lead time, while 15 m, 25 m and 30 m are made to order with a 90 to 120 day lead time, so a bespoke length has to be planned into a fit out programme rather than added at the end. Width is 2 m as standard, and parallel lanes are laid side by side rather than specified as one wide run. Colour and logo are the last decision, and a logo has to be specified at order stage.
Fibre material, backing, weight per square metre, ultraviolet resistance, fire classification and certifications are available on request, and we supply them with the quotation where a specification or a tender requires them. The substrate underneath must be level, clean and dry, and edges should be bonded where sleds are used heavily so the lane does not creep under repeated horizontal load.
Frequently asked questions
What does 63,000 stitches per square metre change in practice?
The fibres are packed closely enough to support each other, so the surface stays compact under a loaded sled and recovers its profile rather than flattening along the running line.
How long does a custom length take?
15 m, 25 m and 30 m lanes are produced to order with a 90 to 120 day lead time. Stock lengths of 10 m and 20 m ship on our standard 5 to 10 working day timescale.
Can you provide the fire classification and certificates?
Fire classification, certifications, backing, fibre material and weight per square metre are available on request and supplied with the quotation where a tender requires them.
