Description
This black Crossfit turf track measures 10 x 2 m, with a 15 mm curled short pile and a density of 63,000 tufts per square metre. It is the surface specified for sled and prowler lanes, where a rubber floor either grips too much or wears through under the runners.
Why a short curled pile
Curled fibres are crimped rather than straight, so they stand up under repeated loading instead of matting down into a directional lay. At 15 mm the pile is short enough to keep a sled moving predictably and long enough to soften landings on burpees and bear crawls. The surface is non-directional, which means a sled pushed back down the lane behaves the same as on the outward run.
Typical uses
- Sled push and sled pull lanes, prowler and harness work
- Bear crawls, lunges, farmer carries and loaded marches
- Rig-adjacent floor protection where bumper plates are dropped nearby
- Hyrox-style stations and functional circuit zones
Colour and format options
Black is chosen when the aim is a low-reflectance training zone that recedes visually and lets branding and lane markings stand out. The same specification is stocked in green, blue and red, in 10 m and 20 m roll lengths. Custom lengths of 15 m, 25 m and 30 m are produced to order with a lead time of 90 to 120 days. Logo printing is available and is quoted separately.

Installation and upkeep
The roll is laid loose or bonded at the perimeter, depending on whether the lane sits on rubber tiles or directly on screed. No irrigation, mowing or fertilising is involved, and the fibre is UV stabilised for indoor light and for covered outdoor areas. Routine care is limited to brushing the pile against the direction of use and vacuuming loose debris; chalk residue lifts with a stiff brush.
Frequently asked questions
Does it need infill?
No. This is a non-infilled short-pile turf, so there is no sand or rubber granulate to migrate across the gym floor or to be tracked into changing rooms.
Can two rolls be joined to make a wider lane?
Yes. Two 2 m rolls butted and taped give a 4 m wide zone. Because the pile is curled and non-directional, the seam is far less visible than on a straight-pile turf.
Is 10 m long enough for sled work?
For most conditioning formats it is, since standard sled intervals run at 10 or 20 m. If you programme longer efforts, the 20 m roll or a bespoke 25 or 30 m length avoids a mid-lane seam.
Tell us the lane length, the number of lanes and whether you want a printed logo or numbered markings, and we will return a quotation with the cut plan, freight and lead time.
