Description
This artificial turf sled track measures 15 x 1 m in green, with a 15 mm curled short pile at 63,000 tufts per square metre, priced at 1,030 EUR excluding VAT. It is the surface used for sled pushes and pulls, prowler work, sprint drills and carries, indoors or outdoors, and it can be produced in other colours and lengths and personalised with your own logo and design.
A sled track exists to solve two problems at once. It has to give a sled enough friction to load the athlete without destroying the floor underneath, and it has to give a repeatable reference distance so that sessions can be measured and compared. A short, dense curled pile does both: the fibres resist the runners of the sled consistently, and a fixed 15 m lane gives every athlete the same working distance.

Installation and use
Indoors, the track is rolled out onto a clean, level floor. A 1 m wide lane can be laid loose for occasional use, but in a commercial box it is worth bonding or double sided taping the two ends and the leading edge, because a sled that catches a lifted edge will ruck the whole lane. Where the track runs alongside rubber tiles, plan for the difference in build up so that the transition is flush and nothing catches a foot at speed.
Outdoors, the track needs a firm, free draining base and mechanical fixing at the perimeter. Turf laid over compacted aggregate or a concrete slab with a slight fall drains and dries quickly; turf laid over an unstable base will develop waves under repeated sled loading.
Beyond sled work, the same lane is used for bear crawls, lunges, farmer carries, sprint starts and controlled acceleration drills. Physiotherapists use it for gait and loading work because the surface is forgiving without being unstable. Maintenance is limited to brushing the pile back up against the lay direction and rinsing off dust.
Specifying the right lane
Three decisions matter. Length: 10 m suits a compact studio, 15 m is the general purpose choice, and 20 m gives room for genuine sprint work and Hyrox style sled distances. Width: 1 m suits a single athlete lane, and multiple lanes are laid side by side for group classes. Colour: the four standard colours let you code the lane against your brand or distinguish it from adjacent training zones.
Line markings and logos are printed into the track, which turns it into signage as well as equipment. Allow 90 to 120 days for a fully bespoke track, or order a standard reference from stock with shipping in 5 to 10 working days.
Frequently asked questions
Will a sled damage the turf?
Not when the pile and density are specified for the duty. A 15 mm curled pile at 63,000 tufts per square metre is built for sled contact, unlike a decorative landscaping turf with a long soft pile, which flattens permanently after a few sessions. Use plastic or coated sled runners rather than bare steel edges and the surface stays consistent.
Can the track be cut to fit the room?
Yes, the material can be trimmed on site, and standard lengths of 10, 15 and 20 m cover most rooms without cutting. If your run is an unusual length, tell us the dimension and we will quote a made to measure track rather than have you cut a printed design.
Is it suitable for outdoor use all year?
Yes, on a free draining base with fixed edges. Artificial turf handles rain, frost and ultraviolet exposure. What it does not tolerate is standing water on an impermeable base, so drainage is the item to get right at design stage.
