Description
MAJA is a suspended walkway whose cross-section is a V: three horizontal ropes carry five V-shaped ropes held apart by two galvanised steel spacers, between posts 3.0 m apart. Children walk in the bottom of the V with a hand rope on either side.
Why the V shape works
A single rope underfoot is a balance exercise that most children abandon after two attempts. The V puts the walking rope at the base and the hand ropes above and to the sides, so the body is contained rather than perched. The result is a crossing that almost every child in the 5 to 14 range completes, and that still moves enough to feel like an achievement.
- Three horizontal ropes tensioned between the posts
- Five V-shaped ropes forming the walking section
- Two galvanised steel spacers holding the geometry
- Fixing clamps protected with chlorinated rubber paint

Placing it early in a trail
Because it is the most achievable crossing in the collection, MAJA belongs near the start of a rope trail, where it gives arriving children an early success before the harder modules. Its 1.0 m width is greater than the flat net modules, but the safety area stays at the standard 5.3 x 8.3 m.
Maintenance
The spacers are the components that keep the V open; their fixings and paint condition are recorded at the annual inspection, along with rope tension and sheath wear, under the regime required by EN 1176.
Frequently asked questions
Can two children cross at once?
The walkway is designed for sequential crossing. Two users load the ropes at different points and the section moves unpredictably, so supervised settings run one at a time.
Is it usable by children who are anxious about heights?
The containment of the V helps considerably. It is the module we suggest when a school wants a crossing that the whole class can attempt.
What does MAJA XL add?
Six V ropes and three spacers across a 4.24 m span, with a wider safety area of 6.5 x 9.6 m.
