Description

The Bodytone SRX54 vertical leg press places the athlete directly beneath the load, producing quadriceps and glute recruitment that a conventional angled press cannot match. The vertical line of push removes the lateral shear forces of an inclined sled, so the load is concentrated on the quadriceps and the posterior chain rather than spread across the frame. It is a plate loaded machine from the Solid Rock SRX line, which combines free weight loading with an engineered safety envelope for elite club environments.

The chassis is 3 mm carbon steel, built from 100 x 50 mm and 75 x 50 mm tube and reinforced with 8 to 10 mm plates, rated to carry 250 kg of Olympic discs safely. Movement runs on high precision 6205 bearings, which keep the travel smooth and consistent even at the top of the load range. High density upholstery supports the lumbar spine, which is what stabilises the pelvis during a vertical push, and a quick locking system secures the carriage for solo training.

Fitting a vertical press into a strength floor

Vertical leg presses are chosen for two reasons: the training effect and the floor plan. A 45 degree sled needs a long diagonal run of floor, whereas the D shaped base of the SRX54 concentrates the structure into a small, stable island, which frees usable area on a technical platform where every square metre is programmed. That makes it a practical answer for clubs that want a heavy lower body station without surrendering the space a traditional press would take.

Install it on weightlifting grade rubber flooring with plate storage immediately alongside, since a working set at 200 kg or more means repeated loading and stripping. Loaded, the machine and its discs represent a concentrated mass, so confirm the floor build up before installing above ground level. Leave head end clearance for entry and exit and a side gap so a coach can reach the locking lever during a set.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from a 45 degree leg press?

On an inclined sled part of the load is carried by the frame and the resultant force runs at an angle to the shin. On the vertical press the whole load acts along the line of push, which increases the demand on the quadriceps and glutes for the same disc weight and shortens the range in which the lifter can cheat with hip drive.

Is it safe to use without a spotter?

The quick locking system is designed for solo training and secures the carriage at the top of the movement. As with any heavy plate loaded station, users should be briefed on the locking procedure before their first set.

Are the plates included?

No. The machine takes standard Olympic discs, which can be added to the same quotation along with storage. Light In Fitness is the reference specialist for the Solid Rock range in France and Europe, based in Tours since 2013.
