Description
The Bodytone PPR is a powerlifting platform built to be installed under a rack or a cage rather than to stand alone. It weighs 58 kg and combines a robot-welded steel perimeter frame, a varnished bamboo lifting surface and grooved rubber pads on the drop zones.
What a platform actually protects
Three things fail when heavy lifting happens straight onto a gym floor. The floor covering splits under the corner of a dropped plate; the bar bounces unpredictably because rubber flooring returns energy; and the noise transmits into the structure, which is what generates complaints in a mixed-use building. A platform answers all three: the rubber pads take the drop, the bamboo centre gives a stable surface for the feet, and the steel frame keeps the whole assembly flat and together.
Why bamboo for the lifting surface
Bamboo is denser and harder than most hardwoods used for platforms, which means it resists indentation from bar knurling and plate edges. The varnish finish is non-slip, an important detail for deadlifting where the feet must not shift under load, and it can be cleaned with standard gym products without lifting.
- Squat, deadlift and bench press under a rack
- Absorbs the impact of dropped bars
- Protects the floor covering underneath
- Defines the lifting position clearly on the training floor

Installation notes
The platform is positioned under the rack, so the sequence matters: plan the platform before the rack is anchored, not after. Check that the floor beneath is flat, since a platform bridging a dip will flex under load, and confirm the rack footprint against the platform dimensions before ordering so the uprights land where they should.
Frequently asked questions
Is the rack included?
No. The PPR is the platform alone, designed to be fitted under a cage or rack you already own or are buying separately. Tell us the rack model and we will confirm compatibility before the order.
Can it be used without a rack?
It is designed for in-rack use. For free-standing deadlift stations, a full-size platform with its own bar catch arrangement is the better specification, and we can quote one alongside.
Does it remove the need for rubber flooring?
Under the lifting position, largely yes. Around it, no: circulation areas and neighbouring stations still need their own floor protection, and the platform should sit flush with the surrounding surface to avoid a trip edge.
Send us the rack model, the number of lifting stations and the flooring already installed, and we will return a quotation covering platforms, delivery and fitting.
