Description
PSYCHE arranges four vertical triangular nets around a central hourglass element of 1 x 1 x 1 m, mounted on four posts in a 3.0 x 3.0 m configuration. The result is a climbing structure that has to be approached from four sides and resolved in the middle.
A route that converges
Most climbing nets present a face. PSYCHE presents a destination. Children climb one of the four triangular nets and meet at the hourglass, which narrows and then opens again, so the centre of the structure becomes the place where the game happens: passing through, blocking, waiting, changing direction. The four-sided symmetry means no single approach is the correct one and groups distribute themselves without instruction.

Siting a four-post module
The square safety area of 8.3 x 8.3 m is close to 70 square metres of impact attenuating surface to EN 1176-1, sized against a free height of fall of 2.85 m. Four-post modules of this kind work as the centrepiece of a play area rather than as a link in a linear trail, and they usually justify their surfacing cost by holding a larger group for longer.
Maintenance
The convergence at the hourglass concentrates wear, so the centre of the structure is where inspection should start: rope condition, connector security and tension, within the routine, operational and annual regime required by EN 1176.
Frequently asked questions
How many children can use PSYCHE at once?
The four independent faces let several children climb simultaneously. The practical limit is set by the central element, and supervision should prevent crowding at that point.
Does it need to be fenced?
No, but the 8.3 x 8.3 m safety area must be free of paths, benches, planting and fencing on all four sides.
Can it be combined with linear rope modules?
Yes. It shares the post and rope specification with the rest of the collection, so a four-post centrepiece and a run of crossing modules read as one designed system.
