Description
The Bodytone FR02 is a vertical Olympic plate tree with eight storage pins for 50 mm plates, rated for 500 kg of total load on a 102 x 72 cm footprint. It weighs 39 kg, stands 116 cm high and is fabricated from 100 x 50 mm steel tube with a 2.5 mm wall and robot welding. Eight pins is enough to sort a full plate inventory by weight rather than by whatever came to hand.
Why plate storage is a safety item, not a tidiness item
Loose plates on the floor of a free-weight area are the most common cause of trip injuries in a commercial gym and the reason bumper plates crack at the edge. A tree that holds 500 kg on 0.73 m2 takes the entire circulating inventory of a mid-sized strength floor off the ground.

Loading, stability and finish
A plate tree fails in one of two ways: it tips, or the pins deflect. Both are load distribution problems. The FR02 is designed so that a full 500 kg spread across eight pins stays balanced over the 102 x 72 cm base, which is why the base is wider than the visual footprint of the plates. In use, load the heaviest plates on the lower pins and keep the top pins for the 5 kg and 10 kg discs.
Robot welding matters on a component that carries half a tonne. It gives a consistent weld penetration at every joint rather than the variable quality of hand welding on a production run, which is what determines whether the pin-to-frame junction fatigues.
The finish is three coats of epoxy over an anti-rust primer, specified for the abrasion plate storage receives every time a 20 kg disc is slid on and off. Frequently asked questions
Will it take bumper plates as well as cast iron discs?
Yes, provided the plates are standard 50 mm Olympic bore. Bumpers are thicker per kilo, so a tree loaded entirely with bumpers reaches its physical pin length before it reaches 500 kg. Tell us your plate mix and we will confirm the capacity in practice.
How many trees does a strength floor need?
The usual rule is one tree per two loading stations, positioned so no user carries a plate more than a few steps. Spreading storage around the floor is more effective than concentrating it, and it keeps the plates on the trees.
Are the plates included?
No. 614 EUR excluding VAT covers the tree. Plates are quoted separately so the tonnage and the finish can be matched to the rest of the free-weight area, with quantity pricing when ordered together.
