Description
LEZARD takes its form from a desert lizard: a long, low-slung silhouette 13.5 m from end to end, rising to 6.9 m but never more than 6.9 m wide. It is a piece of equipment that also works as a landmark, and on projects where the play area has to contribute to the identity of a park, a resort or a public square, that dual role is usually what secures the budget.
Play equipment as placemaking
- A recognisable animal form rather than a generic frame, so the structure gives the space a name people use: children ask to go to the lizard.
- Long and narrow in plan, which suits an axis, a promenade edge or a linear park where a square structure would sit awkwardly.
- Multi-level nets and linked raised platforms along the length, so the play is a journey from one end to the other.
- Height without exposure: 6.9 m overall with a free height of fall of 2.1 m, because the internal nets and platforms interrupt any fall path.
Materials and construction
Reinforced stainless steel structural posts; 18 mm polyamide rope with a braided galvanised steel core, cut-resistant and UV-stable; aluminium and stainless steel connectors; impact and weather resistant HPL decorative panels; high-strength concrete foundations at 1.0 m depth. Installation requires suitable lifting equipment. The full range is shown under Diamond Collection play structures.
Siting
The minimum impact area is 17.1 by 9.2 m: long and comparatively narrow, following the shape of the structure. Because the item is designed to be seen, consider the approach view as well as the technical fit — a sculptural structure placed behind planting loses most of what it was bought for.

Frequently asked questions
Does the sculptural form reduce the play value?
No. The lizard silhouette is created by the arrangement of posts, nets and platforms, all of which are climbable. The form is the structure, not a decorative shell added to it.
Why is the fall height so low for a 6.9 m structure?
The nets and platforms are arranged so that no reachable position offers more than 2.1 m of clear fall. That reduces the surfacing specification substantially compared with an open structure of similar height.
Can it be lit for evening use?
Lighting is a site matter rather than part of the equipment, but a sculptural structure repays it. Any lighting column must sit outside the impact area, which needs to be resolved at layout stage.
Send us your site plan including approach views and lighting positions, and we will return a costed proposal covering equipment, foundations, lifting, installation and the compliance file within 24 business hours.
