Wood effect shock absorbing rubber tiles
Wood effect shock absorbing rubber tiles: our professional selection
Wood-effect rubber tiles are 20 mm two-layer technical tiles in a 100 x 100 cm format, for indoor use only: yoga and Pilates studios, wellness and coaching areas, physiotherapy practices, hotel gyms and high-end home gyms. A recycled SBR rubber base made from sports shoe soles (960 kg/m3), with ventilated studs, is topped with a high-density vinyl wear layer (1,600 kg/m3, 0.5 mm) that reproduces timber grain. The floor looks like parquet and behaves like a rubber sports floor: cushioning, acoustic insulation, non-slip and non-porous surface, no sanding or varnishing.
What defines our sports flooring
| Thicknesses and formats | From 6 to 60 mm, up to 100 mm for extreme use. Formats 50 × 50, 50 × 100 and 100 × 100 cm, plus mats and rolls |
|---|---|
| Density | 900 to 1,000 kg/m³ depending on the reference, stated on every product page |
| Composition | Recycled rubber granules with polyurethane binder; coloured, wood-effect or patterned versions depending on the range |
| Impact attenuation | Critical fall height validated by HIC testing to EN 1177, published reference by reference |
| Fire classification | Three classifications backed by test reports (EN 13501-1): Bfl-s1 by SGS (SBR/EPDM tiles 15 to 40 mm), Cfl-s1 by LNE (SBR tiles 15 to 30 mm) and Dfl-s1 by LNE (SBR tiles with EPDM top layer, 25 to 30 mm); reports available on request, not published online; other thicknesses and finishes are classified by Light In Fitness declaration on these bases |
| Acoustics | ΔLw values declared by Light In Fitness on the basis of supplier testing, attestation on request |
| Installation | Loose-laid, connector-jointed or bonded depending on thickness and use. Substrate, flatness and drainage to be checked before ordering |
| Edge detailing | Finishing profiles for 20, 25 and 40 mm thicknesses, plus a sloped transition strip. Access ramps and made-to-measure edging available as an option, quoted with the layout |
| Available on request | Cellular tiles to be filled with gravel or topsoil, made-to-measure edging and ramps, interlocking rubber pavers for stables and technical rooms |
| Choosing the thickness | By use zone — free weights, cardio, functional training, play area — never by overall floor area |

Four shades are available: light oak, dark oak, rustic ultra-dark oak and grey wood, all 20 mm and 100 x 100 cm, combinable at the same level to zone a space. The three oak shades are rated Cfl-s1 (EN 13501-1), with the classification certificate supplied with the order, which allows installation in premises open to the public; they are laid without adhesive using the supplied clips (5 per tile, half clips at edges) and can be lifted for a rented space or phased works. The grey wood version is rated Efl, loose laid edge to edge, for non-public spaces. Matching straight (50 x 15 cm) and corner (15 x 15 cm) edge profiles remove the sharp edge and finish the transition to the existing floor.
| Shade | Fire rating | Laying | Warranty | Price excl. VAT / m2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light oak | Cfl-s1 | Clips supplied | 5 years | EUR 49.00 |
| Dark oak | Cfl-s1 | Clips supplied | 5 years | EUR 49.00 |
| Rustic ultra-dark oak | Cfl-s1 | Clips supplied | 5 years | EUR 49.00 |

What the two-layer construction gives
The rubber base does the mechanical work: it absorbs impact, carries load and protects the substrate. The vinyl wear layer carries the appearance and the resistance to abrasion, which is what allows a rubber tile to keep a timber look under foot traffic.
Cushioning, critical fall height and floor protection
The 20 mm wood-effect tiles sit at around 0.6 to 0.8 m critical fall height (HIC ≤ 1,000, EN 1177 method), 20 to 30 % force reduction (EN 14904) and 18 to 22 dB impact sound reduction (ΔLw). The dense, non-porous top layer takes dumbbells and kettlebells set down on the floor without marks; the studded SBR base returns energy progressively and cuts vibration transfer to the subfloor, protecting both the existing floor and the equipment. Indoor use only: the fall height is given as a guide for people falling in a studio (yoga, Pilates, physiotherapy, coaching), not for an outdoor playground, where EN 1177 requires a certified outdoor tile matched to the equipment fall height. These are reference values for 20 mm two-layer rubber tiles; a Light In Fitness declaration is available on request. For a higher certified fall height, see our 30 to 100 mm shock-absorbing tiles.
Laying and maintenance
Lay edge to edge on a flat, stable and dry subfloor, leaving a 5 mm expansion gap at the walls, staggered like brickwork. Not recommended over floating parquet or existing carpet. Maintenance is limited to sweeping and washing with a neutral detergent. For the wider range see rubber gym flooring tiles.
Frequently asked questions
Can wood-effect tiles be used outdoors or on a terrace?
No. This range is for indoor use only. For a terrace, a playground or an outdoor trail, specify an outdoor-rated shock-absorbing rubber tile from the main range.
Is the surface suitable for dropped weights?
This tile is designed for appearance and cushioning in studios and circulation areas, not for repeated loaded barbell drops. For a weightlifting or CrossFit drop zone, specify a thick rubber tile or a platform instead. The two can be combined on one floor, zone by zone.
Send us the surface area and the intended use, and we will return a specification with quantities and prices. Request a quotation for a reply within 24 working hours.
