Description
The TRAINER D29+SLW2 outdoor fitness ladder is supplied complete with its support pylon, measuring 70 x 100 x 211 cm and weighing 55 kg, with a recommended safety zone of 367.5 x 398 cm. Difficulty is rated high, for users from 140 cm and up to 150 kg. Certified to EN 16630:2015-06 and tested by TUV Rheinland, it is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,104 EUR excluding VAT.
A horizontal ladder is a full-body apparatus
Traversing a ladder hand over hand looks like an arm exercise and is not. The grip and forearms hold the body, the lats and the chest drive each reach, the abdominals stop the legs swinging, and the legs themselves work if the user chooses to lift them. That is why the muscle list runs from arms and back through chest, abdominals and legs, and why the difficulty rating is high: a user who cannot hang from a bar for fifteen seconds will not cross the ladder. It is the apparatus that gives a site a visible challenge, and challenge is what brings people back.
- Works arms, back, chest, legs and abdominals in one movement
- Builds grip strength and shoulder stability
- Trains coordination and rhythm as well as strength
- Difficulty rated high, minimum user height 140 cm
- Supplied with its support pylon, ready to install
Pylon included: check this against the schedule
The SLW2 suffix means the post comes with the apparatus. Many TRAINER references do not include a post, and a bill of quantities that mixes the two without checking will arrive on site incomplete. This version is the right choice where the ladder stands alone or opens a circuit, and where no existing post has a free face. Where a pylon is already in the ground with capacity to spare, the apparatus-only reference costs considerably less.
Surfacing drives the budget
At 211 cm with a suspended traverse, the free height of fall is set by the user’s grip height, not by the frame. Impact-attenuating surfacing across the full 367.5 x 398 cm zone should be assumed from the first cost estimate; on suspension apparatus it frequently approaches the price of the equipment itself. Standard colours are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other RAL references on request.

Frequently asked questions
Is it usable by people who cannot yet traverse it?
Yes, as a hanging and grip station. Dead hangs, knee raises and assisted traverses with the feet touching down are all valid progressions on the same apparatus, and an instruction panel showing them measurably increases use. The high difficulty rating describes the reference exercise, not the ceiling of what can be programmed.
Can children use it?
It is certified under EN 16630 as open-access outdoor fitness equipment from 140 cm, which excludes younger children by design. Where a site sits next to a playground, the layout should separate the two zones and the surfacing specification should reflect the fall height that will actually occur, not the intended user profile.
How does it compare with the Steel4Fit ladder?
Steel4Fit is a separate TRAINER range with its own post system, colours and construction. The two are not interchangeable within one assembly, since EN 16630 certification applies to the structure as installed. Choose one range per installation and extend within it.
