Description
The Medieval Castle play area is built from four steel towers in 160 x 160 mm square section tube, clad in 12 mm HPL panels and linked by rope nets and bridges. The HPL is printed to imitate stone on the walls, tiles on the roofs and timber decking on the platforms, so the theme is carried by a panel material that survives outdoors rather than by paint.
The steel structure is protected by hot dip galvanising and is anchored on reinforced concrete footings. Between the towers, several types of net and bridge are fixed to the steelwork, which is where the play content sits: the towers are the fixed points and the linking elements provide the movement, the balance work and the routes children choose between.

Where a four tower castle works
A multi tower structure is a destination piece. It is specified where a municipality, a campsite or a leisure park wants one strong feature that draws families across a site, rather than several small items spread around it. Four towers linked by bridges also spread the load: children circulate around a loop instead of queuing at a single access.
Play equipment installed permanently in a public space is covered by EN 1176 and the surfacing by EN 1177. The bridges and platforms set the free height of fall, and the impact attenuating surface has to be tested to at least that critical fall height. The footprint, the safety area and the foundation positions are confirmed on the implantation drawing prepared for your site.
Frequently asked questions
How much surface does the castle occupy?
The footprint and the impact areas are issued with the implantation study, since the four towers are set out to suit the plot. We do not publish a generic figure that would not match your plan.
Does the HPL decoration fade?
HPL of 12 mm in an outdoor grade is used precisely because the decorative layer is part of the panel rather than a coating on top of it. Panels are bolted and can be replaced individually.
What maintenance does the structure need?
The routine, operational and annual inspections set out in EN 1176. On this structure the checks concentrate on the tension and the fixings of the nets and bridges, since the galvanised steel towers themselves need no treatment.
