Description
This 10 m x 1 m artificial turf track in green is the short-pile Curled surface, the specification written for sled pushes, prowler work and functional training lanes. The short, dense fibre gives a firm, low-friction running surface that keeps its structure under repeated loaded passes instead of matting down like a long-pile lawn turf. UV-stabilised fibres allow the same roll to be laid indoors or outdoors.
Why short-pile Curled for functional training
Track selection is not a cosmetic decision. A sled needs a surface that offers consistent, predictable resistance and that does not deform under the runners; an athlete needs footing that does not slip under lateral load. Long decorative turf fails both tests within weeks of intensive use.
- Short, compact pile: high abrasion resistance under sleds and prowlers
- Consistent friction so loaded pass times stay comparable session to session
- Comfortable underfoot for bear crawls, lunges and floor work
- UV-resistant fibre, rated for outdoor as well as indoor installation
- No watering, mowing or feeding; cleaned by sweeping or vacuum

Laying out the lane
A 1 m wide roll is the standard single-lane width for sled work, which is why it is the format most box owners order first. Two rolls laid side by side give a 2 m lane for wider sleds, partner work or Hyrox-style pairs, and the seam sits under the centre line where it takes no edge loading.
Ten metres is the usable length for most conditioning protocols; where the room allows, 15 m and 20 m rolls remove the turnaround from timed pieces. Check the clear run-out at both ends before choosing, since the athlete needs braking distance beyond the printed surface.
Bespoke tracks, including club logos, lane numbering and custom colourways, are manufactured to order on a 90 to 120 day lead time and quoted individually. Plan that into the fit-out schedule rather than the delivery window.

Frequently asked questions
Can the track be used outdoors?
Yes. The fibre carries a high UV resistance rating, so the roll can be laid in an outdoor training area, a courtyard or a container gym apron as well as indoors. Provide a firm, free-draining base and secure the perimeter.
What is the difference between Curled and a long-pile turf?
Curled is a short, compact pile engineered for wear. It resists the abrasion of sled runners and keeps a consistent surface. Long-pile turf is a visual product; under loaded passes it flattens, the friction changes as it does, and pass times stop being comparable.
Can we have our logo printed on the track?
Yes, on a bespoke order. Logos, lane numbering and custom designs are produced to order with a 90 to 120 day lead time and quoted separately from the standard rolls.
Tell us the lane length you need, the width, the colour and whether the track is branded, and we will price the rolls with delivery to your site. Quotations are issued within 24 to 72 hours.
