A podium MMA cage is mounted on a raised platform, which is what competition demands: clear sightlines for spectators, referees and cameras over the full surface of the fight. It is the format used by federations, event organisers, professional clubs and high specification training centres, where the cage has to work as staging as much as training equipment.

Construction and venue requirements
Frames are in reinforced steel with an anticorrosion treatment, sized for repeated high intensity bouts and for the loads a platform structure has to carry once fighters, officials and corner teams are on it. Post padding, mesh anchoring and the platform edge treatment are the three points that determine whether a cage passes an event inspection.
Room height is the constraint most often underestimated: the platform raises the top of the fence by the height of the deck, so a ceiling that accommodates a floor level cage may not accommodate a podium version. Access steps and the surrounding clear zone for corner teams and medical staff should be drawn at the same time as the cage itself.
Podium or floor level?
Choose the podium format when events, filming or spectator seating are part of the brief. For daily club training in a room with limited height, a floor level MMA cage is easier to live with.
Can a podium cage be dismantled between events?
The structures are bolted assemblies, so they can be taken down and re-erected. Handling time and storage volume should be factored into an event schedule. See also racks and cages.
