Description
The Exception range abductor is a selectorised hip abduction machine with a front-mounted weight column and a lever-adjusted start position. Price: 2,000 EUR excluding VAT (list price 2,600 EUR excluding VAT).
Designed around the user, not the muscle
Most abductor machines are engineered as a mechanism and the user experience is whatever falls out of it. This one starts from the other end. The weight column is at the front rather than behind the seat, which gives the user privacy and makes load selection reachable without twisting. The overall size is reduced, so access is easy. A lever handles the start position, which means range is set in a second rather than by fiddling with a pin behind the seat.
The exercise
Performed seated, the movement opens and closes the legs against resistance concentrated on the outer thigh and generated by a weight block. Load is selected to suit the individual, which is what allows the same station to serve a rehabilitation user and a trained member.
Muscles worked
- Tensor fasciae latae
- Gluteal group
Recommended for
- Specific abductor training
- Prevention and management of joint and muscular problems of the hips and pelvis
- Improving muscle tone and leg efficiency

Frequently asked questions
Why does the position of the weight column matter?
Because it decides whether members use the machine. A rear column means reaching behind the seat to change load and being visible from behind during the exercise. A front column removes both, which measurably increases usage of hip machines among members who would otherwise avoid them.
Is it suitable for rehabilitation work?
It is recommended for the prevention and management of hip and pelvic joint and muscular problems. Load and range should follow the prescription of the clinician following the case; the lever adjustment makes setting a defined range straightforward.
What support comes with the purchase?
Technical study, 3D layout drawing, delivery to site and assembly by our team or certified partners, with dedicated after-sales support, spare parts availability, preventive maintenance and manufacturer warranty.
Placing it in a small facility
The reduced footprint and the front weight column make this abductor unusually easy to site. It fits against a wall, in an alcove or at the end of a machine line without requiring the rear access that a conventional stack column demands, and the front column means load selection stays reachable from the seat. In a facility below 150 square metres, that combination often decides which hip machine is specified, because floor area rather than budget is the binding constraint.
