Rubber floor tiles in Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg: delivery and export quotations
Rubber tiles travel well, but they travel heavy: a 50 m² sports floor quickly adds up to more than a tonne on pallets. That is why an order from Belgium, Switzerland or Luxembourg is not priced like a parcel: the real cost depends on the precise delivery address, access to the premises and, for Switzerland, export formalities. Light In Fitness regularly delivers gyms, studios, clinics and professional customers outside France, and every export quotation includes the actual freight cost — no rough flat rates.
The whole range is available for export: rubber gym flooring tiles from 10 to 100 mm, oak wood-effect tiles, fire-rated Cfl-s1 and Bfl-s1 tiles, acoustic underlays and outdoor flooring. Prices shown on the site are list prices ex VAT.
What changes by country
| Destination | Framework | VAT | To plan for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Belgium | Intra-EU delivery, direct road freight on pallets | Business with a valid VAT number: invoiced ex VAT under the reverse-charge mechanism. No VAT number: VAT applies | Precise address and unloading conditions (tail-lift, loading dock) |
| Luxembourg | Intra-EU delivery, direct road freight on pallets | Same regime as Belgium | Precise address and unloading conditions |
| Switzerland | Export outside the European Union: export invoice, customs clearance, Swiss import VAT | Invoiced free of French VAT; Swiss VAT and duties collected at import | Noticeably higher freight and customs costs — see the border option below |
Switzerland: the border delivery option that changes the budget
On a recent 200 m² Swiss project, freight to the Swiss destination exceeded €1,400 before customs charges. For volumes like this we systematically quote a second option: delivery to a French address just across the border — for instance in the Pays de Gex (Divonne-les-Bains, Saint-Genis-Pouilly) for Geneva, or Annemasse in Haute-Savoie — where the customer or their Swiss carrier takes over. Freight is then invoiced as a standard French delivery and the customer handles the import at their own pace, which considerably reduces the total cost. Both options are priced in the quotation for comparison.
How an export order works
| Step | What we do | What we need |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Enquiry | Selection of the right tiles for the use (thickness, finish, fire rating) | Area, use of the premises, country and postcode |
| 2. Quotation | Pricing with actual pallet freight, as one or two options (direct / border) | Precise delivery address, intra-EU VAT number for EU businesses |
| 3. Dispatch | Preparation on wrapped pallets, handover to the carrier, export documents for Switzerland | Access conditions: tail-lift needed, dock, HGV restrictions |
| 4. Receipt | Tracking through to delivery | Check the pallets on receipt before signing the delivery note |
Why order French tiles from Belgium or Switzerland?
Cross-border projects that consult us mainly compare three things: the availability of professional thicknesses (10 to 100 mm, including 42 mm weightlifting tiles), documented fire ratings for premises open to the public, and decorative finishes such as the 20 mm light oak tile at €49 ex VAT/m², in strong demand from personal-training studios and dance schools.
Frequently asked questions
Do you deliver to private customers in Belgium and Switzerland?
Yes. Our products are professional grade, but private customers fitting out a home gym or a private playground can order in the same way. For private customers in the European Union, VAT applies; the quotation states it clearly.
How much does delivery of a 50 m² floor to Belgium cost?
It depends on the total weight (and therefore the thickness chosen), the region and the unloading conditions: we only quote actual freight costs priced by our carriers, built into the quotation. It takes slightly longer than a flat rate, but there are no surprises at ordering.
Who pays customs and VAT on a Swiss delivery?
On a direct delivery, Swiss VAT and any duties are collected at import and remain payable by the recipient via the forwarding agent. With border delivery on the French side, the customer handles the crossing themselves, which is often more economical on large volumes.
What are the lead times to Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland?
For references in stock, allow a few working days after the quotation is approved for Belgium and Luxembourg, and additional time for Switzerland linked to export formalities. The exact lead time is confirmed on the quotation for each reference and period.
Is an intra-EU VAT number required to buy ex VAT?
Yes: ex-VAT invoicing under the reverse charge to Belgium and Luxembourg is reserved for businesses with a valid intra-EU VAT number. Without one, ordering is still possible, VAT included.
